A lot of static for me during the winter seasonAnd I considered my static nature when preparing to build my first gaming PC in December 2018.The price of these seemed alright for a 3-pack. I honestly don't know how it feels if these things are working. But I am pretty familiar to feeling charge build up on my arms. This feeling mildly came in a few times during the build phase, and I am glad to report no discharges during this experience. (Apparently, it's too late for the PC component if the shock occurs)My grounding method for this was clipping onto the metal part of the OFF power supply unit. The power supply unit is also plugged into the electricity outlet, so definitely make sure the PSU is OFF. When the PSU had to go in, I just clipped onto the metal PC case. I know a lot of forums online have different recommendations on where to clip. But I'm fine with giving some of the credit to having these wrist straps.5Great value! Easy on and off. Also easy to adjust wrist size. Most products are too big for my small wrist. This one adjusts to any size. I use them to work on machines with computer boards so discharging electricity is very important. I was amazed that I could get 3 of them for such a low price! Thank you! 5No more static shocks!I work around various electronics at work and have had recurring issues with static shocks, some more painful and powerful as the gear around me is taking in a lot of power. I bought these to see if grounding myself would help.Sure enough, I still hear electrical hissing and buzzes like before when I was about to be shocked, but I no longer get shocked anytime I am wearing the bracelet and clip it to metal. It's comfy to the point I forget I'm wearing it, though it limits how far I can move at my workstation. The cord is decently flexible and can stretch out a good three to five feet, though I don't want to try going too far in case the clip comes flying off and smacks me. (Hasn't happened yet, at least.)5Love it, would buy againOK, if you haven't heard of 'grounding' or 'earthing' you should try it, at least on the cheap, which is what I bought these for. I wasn't really gung-ho on it, until doing research, I found out that most if not all free radicals are charged w/ a positive charge, & grounding, connecting to the earth, which is negatively charged, can neutralize the free radicals. What an idea! So I bought these to use to connect to the earth. I used them to connect to my homemade 'plugs' which we plug into the ground part of wall sockets. I also bought this tester [Amprobe ST-101B Socket Tester] to test to make sure the ground port is connected to a proper ground.51.0 M ohms resistanceI originally gave these a poor review after they failed a basic continuity test between the alligator clip and the metal snap at the other end of the cable. However this test was based on the misconception that anti static wrist straps are supposed to provide a low resistance conductive path. This is WRONG. Anti static wrist straps are specifically designed to have 1.0 M ohms (1 megaohm) resistance so that static electricity discharges through the strap slightly more slowly and won't cause damage. This level of resistance makes the straps fail a typical continuity test and appear to be broken when they are really just fine. The proper way to test one of these with a multimeter is to measure the resistance in ohms between the alligator clip and the metal of the wrist strap. It should read 1 megaohm (abbreviated with a capital M). Under this testing method, all 3 straps passed perfectly.5I am particularly sensitive to nickel on my skin and got very bad skin hives that lasted for a few days after ...I give it 4 stars instead of 3 because it is quite affordable. I remove stars because the plastic plate where the wire connects has a steel backplate under it that conducts electricity to the fabric, which isn't shown in the picture. Antistatic wriststraps have silver-imbedded fabric to made it electrically conductive and this model has it, so there is no need for the steel backplate to be exposed to the skin, it should have been covered by a plastic plate. The steel backplate contains nickel, a metal which can cause contact dermitatis to up to 15% of the population. I am particularly sensitive to nickel on my skin and got very bad skin hives that lasted for a few days after using these wrist straps for a few hours. I had to use gaffer tape to cover up the steel plates to use them without damaging my skin, but well thought out antistatic wriststraps should have plastic covers over the steel backplate. If this product had the plastic covers I would've given it 5 stars for being very good value.4Greatly exceeded my expectationsFor the price I wasn't expecting too much but I was pleasantly surprised when I received them. I do a lot of phone and tablet repairs for friends and family and I decided I wanted to be safe and start using an anti static strap. I didn't know much about them other than the fact that they ground you to avoid a static discharge. I had assumed that I would get a few uses out of each one of these and then they would fall apart. So far I'm still using the first one and have done several repairs with it on. It appears to be really good quality and it's not overly cumbersome to wear. The alligator clip holds firm and doesn't fall off and the band is fully adjustable (even for big wrists). They came packaged in a heavy duty resealable bag that I've been keeping them in for storage and it works well. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this purchase and if/when the time comes that I have to order more I will buy this same kind. I hope this review has been informative and helpful but if you have any questions/concerns about this product please don't hesitate to ask me and I will answer to the best of my abilities.50.98 MOhm readingIt works. It gives me a reading of 0.98MOhm when measured. It basically has a ~1MOhm resistor near the snap on contact.I wanted to use it to ground myself when playing electric guitar, so I needed to remove the resistor.Note that I had a very hard time soldering the wire back, I don't know what it is made of. I actually failed to solder it back, the solder would just not stick to it.Another thing to note is that only the part under the connector is conductive, not the full wrist band. Sometimes that part would lose contact if the band is not tightly attached (which might not be always comfortable).4A Great Buy for An Added Layer of Protection! I purchased these three wrist straps for a computer build I was planning and have now finished. For the price they were great and the fact that it was a three pack meant that my two other friends could assist me with ease without having to remember to ground every time they were going to touch the parts. Of course Anti Static Wrist Straps are not required when dealing with sensitive computer parts but why risk it when it literally costs a few dollars to add an extra layer of insurance. Overall I am happy with my purchase and recommend this item to anyone who is doing any sort of sensitive electrical work! 5Great straps that can fit both a child and an adultThe straps are adjustable and even when they are at the largest size they still stretch enough to fit over my hand/wrist. I'm a big guy and when ordering things like this that fit around my hand and wrist I am always worried about them being too tight or simply not fitting at all. This was not the case here. I was able to adjust one to fit my 9 year old sons wrist and was still adjustable to be large enough to fit my adult wrist. The cable can be disconnected from the strap as well in case that is important to people. It snaps together like a button snap on a pair of blue jeans. The cable is a decent length as well and can stretch. I didn't have any problems with it connected to the case of my PC while I built it. Very simple very easy to use.I bought this three pack because it was the same cost as a single one and had prime shipping. It showed up on time and basically gave me two bonus wrist straps.5Best not to take chances with expensive electronics...My video card took a dump, and I decided on a fairly high-end replacement. I didn t want to risk damaging the card with static electricity, so I did a little research on ESD wrist straps. In the end, this set of three won out.I tried to test these with my basic clamp-type multi-meter, which probably isn t the most accurate for measuring resistance. There was zero continuity, or measured resistance, from any of them. Now this could be that my meter doesn t register resistance that high, so I m just going to assume that s the case, and that they are working just fine. I mean, all 3 can t be bad can they?Moving on These are a knitted elastic fabric. I have fairly large hands (XL or XXL gloves) but skinny wrists. I had no problem slipping it over my hands, and once I did, it fit snugly on my wrists.I should mention that although there is obviously elastic in the fabric, it doesn t pull the hair on your arm like an actual elastic would. It s just really stretchy fabric.Laid flat, they were exactly 3.5 inches wide. Stretched out, they were about 6 inches wide. The end of the fabric strap is folded over and sewn, so there s no way it could come out of the clip. I left the adjustment clamp open, and using it like that was tight enough to make good wrist contact.I found only one of the straps (the blue one) had a fairly tight snap connection. The other two black ones seemed very loose, and I wondered how something that loose could guarantee a good connection. I don t see any way to make it tighter, short of hammering on the top of the male part to flatten it out, so I decided to just use the blue one. One star off for that.I stretched out the coiled cord, and it measured @65 inches. That was plenty for me, and I had no trouble working with it on my wrist and clamped to my box, while I reached for tools and such. If you're within 3 feet, you're good to go, and if you have to go farther, the cord snaps off and on pretty easily. I just slipped the whole wristband off and on.The three straps came in a very heavy-duty Ziploc bag for storage. The bag has a large grommet-ed hole for hanging it up. There was also an eco-fused branded lens cleaning cloth in there, for some reason.I always leave my computer case plugged into a power strip, plugged into a grounded outlet, and turn off the PSU when I work on my computer. I generally ground myself with my finger to the grounded case before touching any components, and again periodically. Even though I was wearing one of these straps now, I found myself continually doing the same thing. Hey, you can t be too careful!Overall, these are comfortable and (assuming they are working), a good buy.4SMALL WRIST STRAPThe wrist strap is very small, for like a child's wrist, or a thin woman. It's better to extend the strap to the max, lock it in place, and then use the elastic like a slide-on bracelet.PROS: The elastic is good and has decent stretch to it. The cable has decent length, and the alligator clips are strong, strong enough to scratch a painted surface if you're not careful how you attach them.CONS: The "adjustable" wrist strap is so small it doesn't make any sense to adjust it at all. Lock it at its max size and use it as a slide-on bracelet. Luckily, this also means the strap will stay tight against your wrist so you will always have good contact. These 3 come in a nice heavy ziplock you can throw in a toolbag. I don't have to use them that often, but expect them to hold up a while.4
