Avanchy Bamboo Baby Plate - Silicone Suction - Suction Plates and Bowls for Toddlers - 9 Months and Older - 7" x 2" (Green)

Don't listen to whiny reviewers, this plate is awesome! I am confused as to why this plate doesn't have a higher overall review, and I wish I could give a higher review in order to make up for those whiny customers. From what I can see, there are a bunch of complainers and whiners about a really nice baby product for no good reason. First of all, we've had the Avanchy suction bowl for over a year and use it every day. The suction works great, and even better if you wet the surface a little before sticking it on. The bamboo is high quality, and we even condition it with a bit of olive oil over night to keep the wood looking nice after washing it out.When I went to look at buying the plate (we were so satisfied with the bowl), I was surprised at the amount of negative reviews (e.g. "plate is too small!"-um.... It's actually a perfectly portion sized plate for my TWO YEAR OLD WHO'S IN THE 90TH PERCENTILE FOR SIZE!, or..."plate doesn't suction well enough!"- um... I have absolutely no problem sticking it down, and actually pulled pretty hard and couldn't get it up without pulling on the release tab) wah! wah! wah!And on top of the amazing-ness of this plate, the suction portion can be removed when your child outgrows it, and can be used as a nice decorative piece, or as a nut snack plate for a wine and cheese dinner party! You definitely get your money's worth! 5 Beauty, form & function Well I got this for Christmas for my little. but let's face it... also for myself.My son is just over 13mo now and we already had a few bowls prior. mostly things we received from our shower. While everything seemed to work as well as the next, I didn't feel particularly attached to any of them. Most of the ones we already had were plastic, had a tendency to stain, and stuck as well as the next bowl (honestly, I don't feel like any of the suction bowls seem to really suck any better than any other, not when you've got even a partially intelligent and curious child.)Benefits to the bowl:it's beautiful.the bamboo is high quality. durable. stain resistant.I found the plate separation very useful.The rubber (or plastic?) is easy to keep clean.Suction functions as well, if not slightly better than others I have tried.I like that the suction cup also is removable too. As my son gets older, unless it's a messier food, we usually leave the suction cup off now. I think this gives the bowl more longevity.A little on the pricier end, but for the quality and the aesthetics, you get what you pay for. This is now the only plate that we use. While I don't think you'll find it to be a "miracle bowl," for suction or cleaning, I recommend it highly simply in quality, durability and aesthetics. If these things are important to you, you'll probably love it as much as I do. 5 My favorite suction plate! LOVE this plate and this company! I bought a suction plate in blue many months ago and found it worked so well I wanted another. We use it at home for finger foods and every time we eat out. So awesome to have this in restaurants so that I can cut food up for baby and he can feed himself easily while we eat. I've only had the suction not work in one restaurant where there was a natural, rough wood table and come on, no suction could have stuck to that.When I ordered a second plate in yellow the suction part was noticeably smaller and didn't work well. I wrote to the company and they said the smaller ring was their old model and apologized. They immediately sent me out the newer and larger suction piece.I love this plate and would recommend it to everyone. I've tried a few different brands but none are as good as this one. Perfect size for my one year old. I get asked all the time at restaurants where I got it. 5 Didn t last long Part of the underneath Wooden part broke after about 3 Months use. Not sure if this was a defective one or they are just poorly made. So now I cannot use it with the suction portion which defeats the purpose bc otherwise my toddler throws it off the table. 1 Adorable! We love love love Avanchy! I maybe ended up going a little crazy with their products! I'm now up to 2 plates 3 bowls and around 8-10 spoons. They are so functional for my little guy. He loves chewing the spoon and the plate or bowl stays in place!The plates and bowls really are beautiful. When my son is done using them for feeding I plan on using them for little snack bowls. Or condiment bowls. Among other things. Really a great product! So glad I found them! 5 Wanted to love it... Now I do! I wanted to love this plate... Not plastic! Sticks to table! It seemed perfect. Unfortunately, my 11-month-old daughter figured out how to slide it toward her and release the suction, freeing the plate. She figured this out within 10 minutes of using it. Great idea, but not useable with my baby.Update 5/22/16: Was contacted by the owner to see if I'd like a replacement suction ring that is bigger and stronger. I'll let you all know the verdict once I receive the new ring.5/27/16: Got the new suction ring and the plate now does what it promises!! Awesome plate with the revised design! 5 Great suction Great baby plate! We own the Stokke TrippTrapp high chair and most other suction stuff doesn t stick to the table (surface isn t super smooth). This does pretty well. It does sometimes start to unstick and the baby sometimes pulls it off when it starts to happen but I would say this has some of the best suction. I love the little compartments for food. The spoon, however, I feel is a little too wide for my baby s mouth (started using it at 6 months and is now almost 9 months). I have to use alternate spoons. I like the silicone tip of the spoon and the handle is the perfect size but the tip is just too wide. Eventually she ll grow into using it but it may not be for a while. 4 Great for our 15 month old twins but a bit small? These plates are adorable. Our 15 month old twins have not destroyed them yet and they have thrown it on the floor a couple of times.The suction on the plate is quite strong but not strong enough for my toddlers. They can pry it off. In all fairness, I don't think there is a suction strong enough to prevent that. I am careful about not keeping it in the water I was drying it right away so its been about 2 months and the plates still look beautiful. I was a little surprised about how small it was. But it still works.The spoon is also cute but I find that it is slightly large so I don't use it as often. But the length is perfect so my boys like to practice feeding themselves with it.Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and contemplating getting the bowl too. 4
