Customer Reviews

Magic Carpet Edit: My first one of these lasted some time, but I left it on accidentally while we were on vacation for a week, and it stopped working. My sister bought me a second one for my birthday, and it didn't even last a year. I absolutely love this thing and am super bummed it no longer works. One of the nice features of this product (that I notice now that I'm trying to replace it) is that it's a carpet - so it's comfy on the feet, but it doesn't pick up all the dirt like the fleece ones (so it doesn't need to be laundered; you can just vacuum it).I bought one of these because I figured it would save me money over buying a space heater for my office, and it wouldn't subject my husband to my personal love of warmth. It worked so awesomely that my mom's boss bought her one for the office at work. Due to an injury, she can't wear closed shoes or socks, and her feet were always cold. The day she left her job, she lamented not being able to take it with her. So I bought one for her for Christmas.I've found that it works best when you're wearing socks or sock-like slippers because they trap the heat and disperse it more evenly around the foot. But if you're like my mom and can't wear socks, then I recommend putting a small cloth - maybe wash rag size - over the carpet because it does get really hot directly.I love this. It does exactly what I wanted it to do. And my feet are always toasty. 5Great buy, keeps the feet warm and saves energy Great way to keep the feet warm, using very little energy! Wish I had bought this years ago. After about 4 months of use, I notice a little bump in the center, I guess this is the thermostat, so we'll see how long it will last. It's not that big a deal really, and I expect it will last 2 or 3 more winters - but even if it only lasted one winter it would have been worth buying. I use it with the AmerTac 6089B Westek 500W Full Range Foot Control Dimmer (also on Amazon) to vary the warmth level and prevent the thermostat cycling on and off. With the dimmer it's easy to turn on and off and to vary the amount of heat. 5Didn't last a year I keep this under my desk at work. I do not have trouble with it sliding around. It keeps my feet warm through my shoes and if my feet are really cold, I take my shoes off for a few minutes and they warm right up on this mat. This solves the problem of having a heater that blows air and cycles on and off, which either left my feet cold or my shins itchy from being too hot (probably drying my skin out). Also this is silent, which is a huge bonus. AND no one will notice that I have it, so I don't get flack from our facilities department about wasting energy or making the A/C run more because of the heater. All around, it is great. I hope it lasts a long time.I do need to plug it into something that I can turn on and off from my desktop, because I am tired of crawling under my desk to turn this on and off. The blower-type of heaters can be turned on and off with my foot, but this cannot.Update - 6/27/18: I bought this in August 2017 and it has stopped working already. I contacted the company and they said they would send me a return shipping label. That was 10 days ago. I followed up four days ago and have heard nothing, so I guess nothing is going to be done. I would not recommend buying, as this didn't even last one year. 2Fairly good Good price for what it does.It is an electric mat not a space heater or a radiator. It warms up only the surfaces that touch it. Don't expect it to heat the legs or even upper side of your feet. You have to rely on good blood circulation or fully enclosed slippers, not sandals. After a few minutes it is too hot to keep your feet on it with only socks on. After 10 minutes it can get too warm even with slippers. What I wish it had was a temperature regulator and a timer that would turn it off after a few hours. 4Good solution for cold feet, silent & far more effecient than a space heater. Worked until .. it didn't. UPDATE: One week later, the mat has stopped working entirely. The red light on the switch lights up but the mat is cold. Returning it to Amazon for a replacement. For now I'll keep it at 5 stars.ORIGINAL REVIEW:This heated mat is awesome. It's silent, comfy & seems well-built. The amount of heat it generates is perfect. The small space heater I had used before was noisy & at 1500 watts, was 25 TIMES LESS EFFICIENT than this mat!! (The mat I received has a 60-watt sticker, although Amazon description states 70 watts). My only minor complaint is I think the power cord is a little short, considering the power switch is located roughly in the middle & needs to be somewhere accessible. So using it under a desk, it's effectively a 3' power cord. But that's a manageable issue & easily solved with an extension cord, or better yet, a wifi-controlled smart plug. Not taking any stars off for that. 5He's more comfortable now in the winter months Met all my expectations. My veteran husband froze his feet in Korea and has cold feet even with carpeting and slippers. We store this under the printer table, then pull it out for him to use when he watches TV at night or when he sits at the computer. It is big enough to let him move his feet around and small enough to tuck out of the way when not in use. He's more comfortable now in the winter months. I love it. 5I own another heating pad made by the same company from years ago and it works fine but the back is much more substantial Bought this for my mom and few months back. It recently broke a wire in the back and burnt a very noticeable hole in the carpet. It's not just the burn but the potential fire hazard that is extremely concerning. There was very little use of this item before this happened.I own another heating pad made by the same company from years ago and it works fine but the back is much more substantial.DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM UNLESS OR UNTIL THEY FIX THIS. IT CAN DAMAGE YOUR CARPET AND IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. 1Exactly what I need I purchased mid-Nov of 2018 and began using it almost every single weekday. It stays under my desk and provides a perfect amount of heat to my feet. I can wear dress shoes and the heat will penetrate through (not as well with athletic shoes) but I prefer to use it with just socks or bare feet. My feet stay warm and it penetrates deeply enough that they stay warm even after I take my feet off the rug. It is completely quiet and looks just like any other industrial mat (not exactly ascetically pleasing but it does the job).About 3 months after I purchased it, I unintentionally left it on all weekend. I arrived Monday morning and was surprised that the mat was already warm. I turned it off to give the mat a break but it never turned on again after this.Edit: seems I was wrong. About two months after this "stopped working" I finally got around to pulling it out from under my desk. Apparently the plug was loose! I'm using it daily again. Keeps my feet warm without hearing up the rest of me. 4excellent footwarmer This footwarmer looks OK and looks to be well built. It doesn't smell at all and I'm very sensitive to smells. I was glad to see that it gets uncomfortably hot without a dimmer because a dimmer is easy to add. I did not buy the associated 2 speed dimmer switch because the reviews said it was only 2 speed and low was only slightly lower than high. Instead I bought an infinitely adjustable Leviton TB103 plug-in lamp dimmer for $11 (available in white or colors at Amazon or hardware stores). I am an electrician and I like the Leviton dimmers for reliability and absolutely quiet operation. I can't stand the cheap dimmers that hum or buzz so I always buy Leviton dimmers. The dimmer controll has it's own cord for handy positioning and a green led that lights when it is off so I can easily check to make sure it is off when I go to bed. I don't heat my San Diego house at all and sometimes my feet used to be cold before I solved that problem with this delightful footwarmer. 5avoid this product i have had 2 so far and both have stopped working after about 3 months. 1
