Do not buy this fry pan.I would not recommend this pan. It warps at medium levels of heat, making it useless for frying unless you're okay with a totally warped bottom for the rest of its cooking lifetime. My research indicates it's a common problem with this product line--there are no lemons, the fry pan just warps if you hit it with anything higher than merely low heat. Not a good fry pan. 15 1/2 quart saute pan rounds out my setBought this 5 1/2 quart saute pan to round out our 10 piece set. When my wife and I retired a few years ago we upgraded our kitchen appliances to include an induction slide-in range. Unfortunately, our All-Clad LTD (anodized exterior stainless interior) cookware is not induction compatible. My wife chose a set of Anolon Nouvelle Copper (nonstick) cookware because of her preference for nonstick. I wanted stainless that did not have the fused aluminum disc bottoms. I chose the Cuisinart French Classic set. I like the style and the fact that they are manufactured in France. I find that this set heats rapidly and cooks evenly without the need of constantly adjusting the temperature. The aluminum core retains enough heat to allow for browning meats on both sides without "sweating" which produces a nice even brown. As with any quality stainless set these clean up easily after soaking. Don't put these or any quality cookware in the dishwasher. Take the time to wash by hand. Take care of your tools and they will take care of you for many years to come. Bar Keeper's Friend will keep them looking as good as new. 5This is a very nice pan with a huge design flawThis is a very nice pan with a huge design flaw. The handle is much too heavy for the body of the pan. If you set it flat on the counter and just touch the end of the handle the pan will tip, it is a little better with the lid on but a lid is not always needed. When I put it on my cast iron grid cook top is just a matter of time before it tips and makes a mess. I really wanted to like this pan but the fruit compote that just made a big puddle on the stove was the last straw and I'm heading for the shop to cut off some of the handle so the pan can be used. Too bad for an expensive kitchen implement. It's as if the handle that was meant for a larger pot was put on this one. This next part is an edit. After the handle was shortened and smoothed the pan works like a dream. Just wished the people at Cuisinart had tried the pan before offering it. 1Well worth the moneyWow. I wanted a new cook set. Luckily BJ's were out of their Cuisinart Classic cookware. Thus I started to investigate the different options for cookware. I looked at several lines including all clad. Read all the reviews I could find and decided that I wanted the Cuisinart French Classic Tri-ply. My only question left unanswered, were the handles what I wanted? I went to several stores to attempt to see a piece and hold it. No luck. The pictures on line do not allow you a good view. So I just took a leap of faith and ordered. Very pleased to say the handles are perfect and the pots, pans, lids are truly beautiful works of art. Makes you want to start cooking immediately. Highly recommend. 5Fabulous Fully-Clad Stainless Cookware - an incredible value to bootMy, oh, my, this is a wonderful line of cookware. I've been an avid cook for over 40 years, and I've never owned a piece of cookware I've liked better. I'm only sorry I've waited so long to make this kind of investment. I've been admiring the All-Clad all stainless clad cookware for a long while, but I simply couldn't wrap my head, or my budget, around the cost of the pans. I'd cobbled together a collection of pans - some enameled cast iron, some Calphalon hard-adonized, some stainless steel pasta and stock pots, and some cheap non-stick skillets which I replaced with some frequency. I'd reached that point again, but instead of buying another non-stick skillet, I discovered this line of Cuisinart French Classic cookware. What an extraordinary value! The pans are fabulous. I've purchased the 12" skillet, the 8 & 10" smaller skillets, and the 2 qt saucepan. The pans are beautiful. They are heavy, but in a good way. The handles are comfortable and cool to hold (but the helper handle on the 12" skillet DOES get hot!). They heat so well and so evenly that you don't need, and shouldn't, use anything higher than medium heat. Allow the pan to heat up before you add the food. The foods develop a nice even browning, the "fond" as the French would say, better than any other pan I've ever owned. There are no hot spots. They cook beautifully on my new Frigidaire gas range.But one of the biggest surprises is how easy it is to care for them! Let the pan cool down, add warm water to soak a little while, and then take a scrub sponge with a bit of Dawn, or Bar Keepers Friend mild scouring powder, to the pan and the residue comes right off. I am amazed. And so very pleased. Yes, they are somewhat of an investment. But they are considerably less expensive than their counterparts at All-Clad. I've used some of those pans in friends' kitchens, and they come in almost an unlimited variety of shapes and sizes. But I would match these French Classic pans against any other any day.Oh, and they are MADE IN FRANCE!Well done, Cuisinart!!! Please expand the available pieces! 5Well balanced, WON T TIP and great product! Don t listen to fake reviews.I almost didn't buy these, because of a bad review that was left on this site. Someone stated that the handles are too heavey causing the pans to tip. That is not true. You can take any pan with or without the lid on and tip it until the handle touchs the counter and it will upright itself. These are beautiful and well crafted pots and pans. I am glade that I made this purchase and expect with proper care that these will last my lifetime or until I forget how to cook. 5Nicest Pots You Can BuyI am completely happy with my purchase of these *Made in France* Cuisinart French Classic Tri Ply (that's why the model name contains letters "FCT").I spent a lot of time studying various pot types and brands and models, and believe dollar-for-dollar, these are the BEST.For some reason, they're hard to find. There are some pots which are more expensive (but no better). There are MANY pots that are less expensive, but of _significantly_ lower quality, made in China, or with just a "disc" on the bottom.At this stage in my life, I decided not to cook in Aluminum or Teflon any longer. That's what began my search. All of my cookware is now Stainless Steel, or Cast Iron.I specifically wanted: Stainless Steel, Aluminum-clad sides, NOT disc bottom, Tri-Ply, NOT China. My kind advice is, when looking for pots, make sure the model number contains "FCT." 5I'm a fan.Well I have become a fan of the French Classic Tri-Ply line. This is the first pan I purchased as I needed the double boiler for a chocolate cheesecake recipe. I had been accustomed to buying cookware with glass lids but this was the best deal with the double boiler. Very glad I selected this one. I've since purchased the 1 and 2 qt pans, 6 qt stockpot and a frying pan in this line. They all seem to heat evenly and have comfortable handles. And with the exception of the stockpot (and fry pan which doesn't have a lid) the lids fit machine precision tight. They're also attractive and clean up easily with a little Bar Keepers Friend. Oh and the double boiler worked just fine to melt the chocolate. 5Warped bottomWe've been using Teflon pans and pots for many years. We were getting tired of replacing our cookware every other year because of scratches and chips in the Teflon and health concerns. After much consideration we decided to buy the French Classic Tri-Ply Stainless Cookware. Amazon shipped quickly and we were excited to cook a variety of meals on our new set. We followed the manufacturers instructions and seasoned all pots and pans. Unfortunately, we found that our 10-inch skillet has developed a warped bottom after only using it twice. All the other pieces are performing very well and the food tastes great. However, the 10-inch skillet has become useless and now I find myself looking for a replacement for this important piece of cookware. Needless to say, we're very disappointed. 2Non stick coating, no more...The honeymoon is over. I ve had this set for about 9 months now and while the saucepan/cover are in extremely great shape.. I wish I could say the same for the skillet. Let me preface by saying I hand wash all of my pots and pans and I don t own/use any metal utencils to aide while I m cooking. I also run a set up typically on a medium temp induction stove top. The good- even heating/cooking and heats quickly (partially due to the fact that I have an induction top). The bad- my major gripe is not even a year of use and the non stick coating (Teflon?) is already starting to peel on the edges from the skillet. I ve had cheaper pans last longer then this. Also, I m in Hawaii so I m not about to pay $$$ to ship it back to only be told it does not qualify for their lifetime warranty . In the end, it was a great value if I were to buy the same skillet it would cost just as much as this 3-pc set. Just like any other non stick coating it eventually becomes no longer useable. Once I saw the non stick coating start to peel I found it no longer safe to be using as pieces of the coating may rub off on to the food. Just sad that it didn t last as nearly as long as I hoped. 2
