Customer Reviews

Chipped after one use Product chipped in several spots after the first use. I'm not sure I received a genuine product, as I've used other Cuisinart skillets before and haven't had anything close to this happening. For reference I'm an experienced amateur cook who typically uses mid-range to high end cookware. 1Certainly Not Professional Three (overly generous) stars due to the heavy bases.I don't know what profession this cookware was intended for, but it does not take place in the kitchen. The items are nice and shiny, and do look good on display, but upon closer examination are really not of very high quality. The bottoms are heavy, so it should provide even heating from beneath, but the sides are paper thin, meaning a great deal of heat is lost laterally (or gained laterally in the case of a smaller pans on a gas stovetop). It literally looks like Cuisinart took some of their cheapest cookware and pressed heavier bases on as an afterthought as there is a peculiar gap between the base and sides. Perhaps it was designed specifically for on-line, television, and other remote sales where it could not be closely examined before purchase. The worst part of this purchase is that the cookware was a gift and I didn't have an opportunity to look at it before I gave it to the recipient. Once I did see it I was very disappointed by what I saw, but by that time nothing could be done to but offer an apology.I have long held the opinion that Cuisinart was a company that offers very stylish products with neat features, but which were in fact of very poor quality, and way overpriced. However I have picked up a few pieces of their cookware over the years and have found them to perform well enough, so they had me convinced they had a different philosophy when it came to cookware. This experience has proved to me my first impression was correct. 3Extremely well built for a fraction of the price of All-Clad. Incredibly well built. We were considering All-Clad Copper Core as a professional upgrade to our cookware, but these are built as well for a fraction of the price. Compare to All-Clad 401488R Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe Cookware Set, 10-Piece, Silver for a comperable stainless set or All-Clad 600822 SS Copper Core 5-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe Cookware Set, 10-Piece, Silver for Copper Core.Heat transfers much better than our previous set of stainless cookware and is retained for longer and more evenly.Note: The steamer goes in the large 3qt sauce pan, not in the stock pot as I had expected. The 3qt sauce pan is quite large for a sauce pan.I highly recommend Cuisinart 89336-30H Professional Stainless Saute with Cover, 6-Quart and Cuisinart 8919-14 Professional Stainless Saucepan with Cover, 1-Quart to go with this set. We also fell in love with the non-stick pan and will be adding Cuisinart 722-911NS Chef's Classic Stainless Nonstick 2-Piece 9-Inch and 11-Inch Skillet Set and Cuisinart 722-30HNS Chef's Classic Stainless Nonstick 12-Inch Open Skillet with Helper Handle to our kitchen. You may also wish to consider Cuisinart 89-13 13-Piece Professional Stainless Cookware Set this set instead of the 11 piece set. The 5qt Dutch Oven is not available outside of the set. Had we known how satisfied we would be with this set, we would likely have bought the 13 piece instead of the 11. 5I think Cuisinart has used no good quality material but communications with Cuisinart was very disappointed Many black spots have appeared at the first use of cooking with tomato involved. Those black spots can not be removed no matter how hard we tried. I think Cuisinart has used no good quality material but communications with Cuisinart was very disappointed. Te good part is Amazon has accepted my return without further questions. So i am still make orders to Amazon but it is kind reluctant to make orders to Cuisinart. 1Best Skillet I've Ever Used I ordered the 8" skillet because I live alone & don't cook much at all any more, also because I wanted a skillet that I could put into the oven--I'd never had one before, so I took a chance, it arrived last week, I've used it 3x and have been very happy with it. The skillet does not need to be heated on the stove beyond medium heat; every inch gets nice and hot for sauteing and the handle stays cool to the touch--perfect! Everything cooks evenly, clean up is a breeze. I'm considering ordering the next largest size, but for right now the 8" will do just fine. Very good investment. 5Cuisinart didn t disappoint!! Got this skillet a week ago today. (Monday). Immediately I tried it out. I always owned no stick cookware. This pan is really nice and heats fast. I m used to cooking on high heat. So of course I burned my chicken lol. But that s ok. I waited and cooked another batch in lard. I was making southern fried chicken. I put it on a medium flame and allowed it to heat properly as directed. This pan gave me the best batch of chicken I have ever made. So crispy and juicy. Next day I made saut ed shrimp. Came out great. Last test, fried salmon steak and a dinner steak. Wow! It came out great! Normally, I use a cast iron skillet. But this skillet worked better than I every expected. I really recommend this skillet. Just follow the directions. 5Top shatters without provocation! Well, when I first got the pan I let the fact that the pan rim was dented go by because returning things to Amazon can get your account cancelled. So I kept it. It worked fine for several months. I always hand washed it. Never put it in the oven. Then today I heard a loud popping sound come from inside the cabinet. When I looked inside the lid was completely shattered into a thousand pieces! Literally, nothing even touched it! By far the most bizarre thing to ever happen to my cookware. 1Hefty feel, easy pouring. Nice appearance, solid feel to the handle with no play.Lid is not as tight as the instructions would have you believe, claiming it could develop a vacuum. No way it would do that, but I wouldn't expect it could anyway.Lid is a bit light feeling compared to my Analon lids with the silicone covered handles, which I prefer, but the all metal and glass would allow use in the oven if you so choose. I don't plan to, but it's an option anyway. The plate reinforcement for the handle has a rough finish under the handle area that they missed in the polishing process, looking unfinished, compared to the rest of the the construction. Otherwise, it's a perfect jewel of a pot.The lip for pouring works well with no dropping down the side, and it's good for both left and right handed use, as any portion of the rim works the same, not having a distinct pour spout like others.Aluminum core clad with stainless steel, they warn against using high heat, to avoid possible damage. With care, it should last a long time. 4Defective Returning my second saucepan for the same reason as the first. After only a couple of uses, small black divots appeared on the interior bottom. Seems like the metal delaminated. Spots were 1/16 to 1/8 inch in diameter and definitely concave. Did we eat the metal? It was several weeks between the first and second unit being delivered and I was very disappointed that the same issue developed. One would think that this must be a known issue, yet Cuisinart did nothing to pull them from distribution. Bad policy!!! Lost a customer. 1Exceptional quality for a fraction of the price of All-Clad This series, Cuisinart Professional Stainless, is exceptionally well constructed. This pan is very large and easily handles a stir-fry for an entire family. It heats far more evenly than our previous anodized aluminum pan and retains heat for longer. When we first considered upgrading our cookware to professional grade, we considered All-Clad Copper Core. A comparable pan: All-Clad 6406 SS Copper Core 5-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe Saute Pan with Lid / Cookware, 6-Quart, Silver costs $454. The quality of this Cuisinart pan is nearly as good and for a fraction of the price. We purchased not only the 6qt. Saute Pan but the entire set of Cuisinart Professional Stainless. 5
