Customer Reviews

Superfantastic for small areas, terrible for large counters. If you have smaller, individual spaces to cover, this is great, but if you have to match up the pattern for a longer counter, MOVE ON and just go buy a counter like I'm about to, after 4 hours of genuinely trying to make this stuff work. The meeting edges look awful, plus the pattern doesn't work; half matches up and half doesn't. I blew through two rolls trying to make the second piece line up, and I should have thought to take a picture of it before I ripped it off and crumpled it into a ball and threw it out of frustration. So, that was no fun, however - I'm still giving this three stars because the small section I did (with the first piece I tried that wouldn't match up) looks fantastic! If only that were all I needed to cover, but the whole thing really should work. Very easy to apply and get air bubbles out. The price is so great, I'm not even returning the extra rolls, because I can still use it on some small end tables and/or maybe the top of a dresser where it could be laid horizontally in one continuous piece. 3A much needed revamp to my desk Easy to apply, but surface must be VERY CLEAN before application. Otherwise the tiniest speck of dust/debris/hair will show through to the other side. It does unfortunately scratch very easily and doesn t seem to do well with heat of any kind (use a coaster for hot drinks/plates) but in any case, the faintest blue hue of it really adds to the aesthetic I was aiming for. Still a great product and I m satisfied with the results. 4Will order again. Relatively easy to install with patience. Great outcome. Will recommend to others. 5Take your time & have a helper It s so pretty and a cheap fix for ugly Formica counters! My only disappointment is when it arrived the roll had some creases from being bent and it wouldn t smooth out when I applied it, so it has bubbling in those particular places. Other than that, I love the way my countertops turned out! 4This stuff is amazing! It's pretty thick so you get little to NO bubbles when you smooth it out a few inches at a time. It was pretty easy to make the pattern look cohesive. It made my wooden bookcase look AMAZING. Just make sure to look at the and count how many squares(centimeters) you need properly if your country doesn't use the metric system like mine Love it though, and even ended up repurchasing! 5Disappointed I ordered 3 rolls of this film to cover the back splash of my kitchen countertops. And also to match the countertops I was in the process of redoing. Overall the product isn't a bad product, but I measure everything very carefully. At 78" per roll, that should have given me 234inches, or 19.5 feet. I needed 19 feet. I was over three feet short. Secondly, of the three rolls, two matched identical. The third looked like a highlighted variation of the other two, with the white marble being much brighter than in the other two rolls. So evidently there is a quality control problem. Had I not already started cutting the film when I realized the color difference I would have sent it back. Likewise had I measured each roll before I used it, I would have sent it back. So now I get to back up and punt, and try something else. To say I am disappointed would be a gross understatement. Would I recommend this product, NO. Anyway, that was my experience with this product. lastly , if you do order this product. because of the thinness you will need to be very careful about letting it roll back up on you after taking off the backing, which it has a tendency to do. Then it sticks to itself and is very difficult to work with. So unless laying it out flat, you will need to cut it in sections to insure no bubbling or curling up on you. 2I love how this turned out on my countertops I love how this turned out on my countertops! I would suggest using an x-acto knife if covering counters with it. Stretches good and sticks really well. 5Fancy desk upgrade! I got one of those starter furniture desks that's made of cheap metal bars and pressboard shelves, and there was a gash along the back edge of the top shelf. I didn't want to go through the hassle of exchanging it for a purely cosmetic defect (and maybe-or-maybe-not get one that wasn't mangled), so I got a roll of black marble contact paper instead! (And yes, "Marble" is my real last name and I buy stupid things that are marble patterned because it's my name.)Real talk: Everyone putting this on kitchen counter tops is INSANE. I hope you're all using some kind of plastic or glass layer that protects the contact paper because this stuff gets little scratches on it from using a folded piece of cardboard to smooth it down (see photo). It stands ZERO chance of surviving when your dumb but well-meaning friend or relative gets a little drunk at Xmas and decides to use a knife directly on the counter top (that might just be my friends and family but I think you can see the point). Now, I don't mind the little imperfections because you really won't notice them unless your face is right up against the surface and there's no real harm unless it gets cut all the way through. Looking at the desk from across the room or from normal sitting-at-desk height, it's reflective like polished stone, the print is not pixelated at all (I bought a different brand and the printing on that one was a nightmare), and the veins are slightly blue-toned but they look brighter in the photo with the scratches because of the flash (the inset photo is closer to how it looks in normal light: more subtle but still obviously marble, and the scratches don't show that much in normal light either).I don't remember if I saw it here or in some DIY article about using this stuff, but whoever said to use an industrial heat gun (like you use in retail to make shrink-wrap shrink) is a freaking genius, because that's the trick to making it adhere properly. Since I don't have an industrial heat gun in my house, I used a hair dryer on hot/high until the contact paper was warm to the touch, and it worked! Once you heat it up this stuff is not coming off again. If you don't heat it, it peels up pretty easily so you can keep laying it back down until you don't have anymore trapped bubbles.Tl;dr: Great for accent furniture, desks, shelves, things like that; scratches easily, so don't put anything sharp on it; heat it up to make it stick FOREVER. 4Recommend I like this color, match the kitchen very well. It s so easy to install. It should be no problem to peel off and reinstall, because this self adhesive paper was not super glued. You don t have to worry about damage the wall by peeling off the paper. 5A simple, temporary update I bought this to temporarily update the kitchen counters in our home until we are ready to remodel the kitchen. I purchased 5 rolls of the 26 inches wide, black marble and still have maybe 1/4 of a roll left. It covered all of my kitchen counter and my coffee counter top, so everything matches. I found using an old gift card the easiest way to smooth out the air bubbles and used a sharp craft knife to cut and trim everything. Just go slow and only do about 2 inches at a time. The gift card worked great for doing the creases on the edge of our counter. It's been complete for about 2 weeks now and it still looks like the day I finished it. Our kitchen is used a lot, but it's holding up wonderful. I just wouldn't recommend placing anything hot or sharp directly on the counter, and I'd avoid sliding items across it as I'm sure it could scratch. 5
