Makes great bacon in the microwave! A friend told us about this rack so we bought one and loved it. The skewers broke and we just used wooden kabob skewers for a year (new ones each time, a huge pack is very cheap at the grocery store). Eventually the rack got warped, either from the dishwasher or the microwave, or both, and we replaced it. So we're now on our second bacon cooker and still love it!We've worked out the time in our microwave to be 1 minute per slice of bacon, plus one minute. That gives us the super crispy bacon like we prefer.Every day we pour the grease into a coffee cup and after several days worth we scoop the solid grease into the trash can to make room for more. Much better than pouring it down the drain!Highly recommended product!! 5Love Emson Bacon wave. Just a couple bad things Love using these (I have 2 of them) to make bacon in, put in about 7 - 11 pieces and run in microwave about 1 minute a piece (microwaves vary in time). However, what I don't like is having to replace one every few months because they start to bubble up, pieces fall off, etc. Need a better kind of "plastic" that is more durable to withstand the heat and grease from the microwave and bacon. Otherwise, this item would be 100%, so currently it's only about 85 - 90%. And it's awful to clean because grease and such gets down in between the plastic slots, and the plastic "skewers" eventually bends and breaks, so I just use Wooden skewers, since they're so cheap and you get a whole bunch in 1 pack. So after making the bacon, just toss those sticks out. 3The tray isn t long enough for the bacon and gets ... The tray isn t long enough for the bacon and gets grease everywhere. It does cook the bacon well though. 3It Works I used to cook the bacon in small batch in micro with dinner plate and paper towels. Tried cooking in the oven. Took forever. I use thick bacon and a pound and half. So far It is this is the best method.. I like cooking the whole pack and freeze for future use. 5It actually works.....Kinda Come on, it's the bacon wave. It works relatively well. I had to shorten my bacon length and use less than the maximum amount allowed (14 slices) as I like thick cut bacon. Aside from that it actually lives up to the name. The bacon was crispy, still very flavorful, and didn't lose all of the grease, but just enough to make me feel like I was eating healthier bacon. 14 pieces of thick cut bacon made about 1 cup of grease. 4/5 stars because I had to shorten my back length by cutting off 1.5 inches on both sides. Wish it had more of an adjustable area for longer bacon. 4Good bacon cooker with minimal mess and smell I have tried many different methods to cook bacon. This bacon cooker is my absolute favorite! I am on my third one because I cook them to death over time. I have figured out that they will last much longer and not warp or break down if they are never put in the microwave for longer than 5 minutes tops with the best use and product durability at no more than 3 minutes. They are a bit challenging to clean due to the baffles that hold the bacon apart but that shape is still preferable to laying bacon flat on a plate. With a paper towel across the top they leave no residue in the microwave and do not pop bits of bacon all over it while cooking. I make bacon every single morning using this tray and love it. 5works great works great. just have to put a paper towel over the unit to stop grease from poping. But the unit does well the back is as crisp as you want and the grease is in the bottom 5one time use only Used this item once only, it was impossible to clean, and I put it in the dishwasher. It warped and now the grease goes all over the inside of the microwave. The Bacon has to be cut exactly the correct length, or you guessed it it, all the grease goes all over the inside of the microwave. If you cut your bacon too short, it drops in the bottom of the grease pan any way. The rods your supposed to put in the end of the bacon, are dam near impossible, and your hands are covered in bacon grease, yea don't buy this item, save your self the mess.. 1I FELL FOR ANOTHER ONE. Just too much trouble to make bacon. First: The cooker is only 8 inches wide. And I've never seen bacon that measured out at only 8 inches in the package. I guess because after cooking, it would end up being only 5 or 6 inches long (nothing to brag about unless you're trying to sell miniature bacon). The illustration shows to "curve" or "wave" the bacon to make it fit. Well, you can only do that to the first few pieces before they're so crammed in there that it starts looking like the package you've just taken the bacon OUT of. So, to be able to finish the test I cut 2 inches off of the bacon and set it in the cooker, just like the picture on the box.Now for the plastic skewers that go through all the pieces to hold them straight: Mine warped so badly from the heat that they looked like branches from a tiny bonsai tree after the cook. No way they can be used again. Wooden would have been much better.Next, the Time/Temp: The chart called for an average of 9 minutes for my 1000 watt turntable microwave. 9 minutes later, my bacon was about half-cooked. So I added another 6 minutes (I must say that I WAS using a "thick" bacon). In the end, it was pretty unevenly cooked, and even the cooked parts were not crispy. Finally, the cleanup: It almost MUST be put in the dishwasher, unless you use a bottle brush to clean in between each slot. Not me.So after it all, (with the microwave smelling like bacon for a few days), I used the electric griddle and 15 minutes later I had perfect bacon.Yup, I learned yet another lesson about the risk of TV products... 1Best Bacon Cooker We've found We have purchased three different types of microwave bacon cooking devices. Two of those were the versions that had the bacon strips hang down from a vertical partition. Two problems: first the black pastic tray at the bottom cracked on each of these units (different models); second, the bacon did not cook evenly usually because the 180 degree bend was not well cooked. This Emson unit is the best we've had: even cooking; nothing as a problem. Only comment beyond that is that it takes more time and care to align the strips in each slot although the shafts that spear work well to hold the strips evenly in place! 5
