Customer Reviews

Bad reviews are right.I scrubbed this down really well when I first received it, since many had talked of a residue being present. I didn't notice anything at that time. Pulled the bowl out the other day to mix a double batch of Irish Soda bread; everything was going fine until I started kneading at the end, and noticed with dismay that my dough was turning gray! I was not happy to have to throw that batch out, let me tell you. The bowl is now outside for my kids to fill with dirt, and there it shall stay. And yes, the metal is thinner on this bowl than all the others I have (the bottom easily pops in and out), but that didn't bother me so much. Not knowing what is leaching off this bowl makes this a no-win purchase. Bummer, as I liked the size!1Where has this been all of my life???????I LOVE THIS BOWL, I wish I had known that there existed out there a mixing bowl such as this! I have been making dog food for about 11 yrs. and have used various kitchen bowls to mix the raw and cooked, so I use the quick pot, pressure cooker, for the cooked things and use the big bowl for the cold and un-cooked items, when I mix the hot with the cold it takes no time to incorporate them, making the food only warm, and I am able to put the food into plastic containers that I then freeze, thank you so much for the producer of these bowls, I absolutely love mine!!!!!5A marvelous mixing bowlThe mixing bowl is just great. The problem is that I could not visualize the size of the thing from the pictures or dimensions. Turns out it is a lot too big. My wife points out that it is bigger than our dish pan. It definitely holds the batter mix that I make, and frees up the mixing bowl that my wife uses to make soups, it causes problem in the downstairs refrigerator by occupying most of my shelf. I will eventually replace it with a smaller one after I figure out how to gracefully retire this one.5Perfect fit inside my pressure cookerThis 1.25 quart bowl fits perfectly inside my Presto pressure cooker. The outside diameter is 7-1/8 inches measured flange to flange. The inner diameter of the cooker is 8.5 inches. This leaves enough room to get my fingers down with a cloth to pull it out. The height is 3-1/8 inch. I can cover it with aluminum foil to prevent splattering with some foods. It is pleasantly light to carry instead of a heavy glass Pyrex bowl and cleaner than a plastic bowl. The small size is convenient for storing leftovers in the refrigerator to be finished off later.5DOES NOT FIT 6 quart instant pot!!This is a really nice bowl, that's why I gave it 5 stars but the whole reason I bought this was to use as a pot in pot method, for instant pot cooking. Several comments in the Q and A section, said it will fit the 6 qt instant pot, and it does not :( I have a really nice bowl now, but not for what I intended it to be used for.5Tin Can Disguised As Stainless Steel BowlShould have seen a Red Flag when the bowl was described as, "Metallic".This is a flimsy & terribly thin bowl, just waiting to for chance to dent.Warning on bottom: "Prolonged exposure to foods with high salt concentrations may cause surface corrosion."Returning. Found much better quality bowls at lower price found locally.2My new shaving bowl for making lather... This bowl is just your basic inexpensive stainless bowl. Its not super heavy duty but not bad either. Very similar to the stainless bowls they sell at walmart, only cheaper to buy. The reason I wanted a bowl this small was not for the kitchen, I actually was looking for a shaving lather bowl and they were all so darn expensive and too small since I just a large brush. I Have to say, for a few dollars this works perfectly for that purpose and will last me a very long time. I am more than thrilled with this purchase. I did not want ceramic b/c it would break too easily. I don't know why they don't make an actual shaving bowl in this size but I would probably buy this one anyway since its only $4, and surely they would charge a lot more if it were marketed as a shaving bowl.I am sure that this bowl would be a fine purchase for the kitchen too, though I am really not much of a cook and don't know what you'd even use one this small for...maybe breaking eggs for an omelette. Still a good purchase for a measly 4 bucks. 5Nests easy, 20+ cups, 5+ quartsI needed a mixing bowl for my 48 muffin recipe, and this one works great.APPEARANCE: If you are concerned with the inside of the bowl on the bottom having little scratches from hand-held mixers, don't get this one. Mine looks like all my other mixing bowls on the inside after a few months (but who cares, it's supposed to!)SIZE IN CUPS: I just filled the largest bowl in a set of mixing bowls with water, and it took about 12 cups. This bowl takes 20+ cups.STORAGE: I was concerned such a big bowl would literally have to live in the basement, but in fact it nests PERFECTLY with all my other mixing bowls and adds only about a 1/2 inch to the height of the stack. (SEE CUSTOMER IMAGES)DIMENSIONS: This bowl is 5" high, 12" across. The largest bowl in my standard set of mixing bowls is 4.5" high, 11.5" across. (see customer images for a picture of them nested together)5Works well in a pressure cooker!I bought this not to function as a mixing bowl but rather to be a steaming bowl for inside my pressure cooker. Even at 15psi, the bowl stands up amazingly well and has not stained, warped, or anything else. It's 3 inches deep and 7 inches in diameter. After a cleaning it looks good as new every time.5Wife once loved this bowl but not anymoreIt's a little smaller than she expected but it's actually better than the bowl it's replacing. Nice bowl, no dings. Only thing is she wishes they'd not make the glue on the label so hard to take off. Other than that, good bowl--thinking of buying another one.Update 11/12/19 Wife is really disappointed with this bowl. While it was nice when I bought it, it has started to rust and she's going to dump it as soon as she finds a replacement. It's supposed to be stainless steel.1The best bowls ever Okay, maybe I can't say with authority "best bowls ever" but I love, love, love these bowls. I had some melamine ones which were a bit of a disappointment and it's great to happily anticipate pulling one of my Fox Run bowls out of the cupboard and whip something up. Don't hold back, these are great 5but then I noticed my hands (that had just been holding the outside of the bowl) were covered in a way that I can only describe my first use I noticed little flecks of something in what I was mixing, and on closer look they were little metal shavings. At first I wouldn't have believed it was the bowl, but then I noticed my hands (that had just been holding the outside of the bowl) were covered in a way that I can only describe as that it looked like I had spray painted my hand with metallic spray paint. No idea what caused this, I had washed it in warm water sometime before using and I was just whisking eggs, nothing extreme. Threw out bowl right away.I did read the other reviews and no one else had this issue, so maybe I got the short straw, but won't be reordering. 1Terrific bowl -- buying more because I love themI bought 3 of this bowl as well as the 4 of the 8-quart model. I am coming back now to buy more of this size because I'm finding myself using it all the time. My favorite feature of the bowl is that it's really easy to throw in the dishwasher. Because of the way the rim is made, there's no water that collects anywhere on the bowl. (Rust is not an issue.) They're simple to store -- same-size bowls nest into one another easily and each one adds less than 1/4" in height to the stack.I have a family of 5 so I thought I'd use the 8-qt bowls a lot more. However, this size bowl is constantly in use and the larger ones are rarely used. You can mix 2 boxes of cake mix in this size with room to spare. I am also going to get a few of the 1.25 quart bowls for when I'm making smaller batches of foods, but I think this size will be my default choice most of the time. The ONLY issue I had with this bowl: It was difficult to get it truly clean before I used it the first time. I ran it through the dishwasher and it had a whitish film on it. I hand-washed and scrubbed it and discovered a graying residue (metal "stuff," I'm guessing) on the washcloth. So before you mix in it, take extra precautions to make sure it's completely clean. You'll need to use elbow grease to accomplish this because the dishwasher just isn't enough. The whitish film re-appeared the first 3 times it went through the dishwasher -- thankfully there was no more gray residue -- but a quick rub with a towel cleaned it off. Since then it's washed perfectly every time. If this were a more expensive Oxo product I would have docked a star, but because it didn't last long and because the product was so inexpensive and perfect in every other way, I decided all 5 stars were deserved.5
