Customer Reviews

So far so goodFound an installation video on YouTube, and installed it on stucco on the side of my house. Pretty easy to install. As suggested in the video, simple drywall anchors are sufficient to hold the weight (I'm using a 50 foot hose), with some silicone caulk to make sure that they don't leak into the stucco. One of my new hoses already had kinks in it, but I can tell this product will help tremendously in keeping my hoses neat. 5A better product to store your water hose!I received the Gecko Toes yesterday and hooked it up to my workshop hydrant today. I hooked it up directly to my water hydrant, so I wouldn't have to install yet another post or mounting bracket....and it works wonderfully!!I just wanted to share some photos and feedback for those considering the product. I'm already putting the product to use around my shop and surrounding landscape area.As you'll notice in the photos, I used three regular automotive hose clamps to attach it to the hydrant post and they work great. I installed the hose clamps at the same three areas where the predrilled holes were. I mounted the device at a 90 degree angle to the spout to enable easy fastening of the loops of hose and not interfere with the hookup of the hose to the spout outlet.Just for those folks wondering on the size and length of hose.....the hose I have rolled up is 100 feet of 3/4 inch hose I purchased from the local blue big box hardware store, and as you'll notice in the photos, I still even have an extra loop of storage left at the top of the gecko toes.I don't find many things nowadays that actually are worthy of a review, but I feel I had to take some pictures and let fellow landscape enthusiasts know there's a better mousetrap out there. My best to the manufacturer and Thank You for designing a great product that seems quite durable as well.Regards, Chad ParksPratt & Whitney Aerospace Engineer 5wish they would THOUGHT of this before selling this product.I don't know why they are so expensive. Profit driven product. The toes does tend to create a fold over effect on every loop that I can see would damage the hose eventually. I would have liked a rainbow shape toe that would curb the edges of the toes. Gee I don't know how to explain the improvement. The toes are working great, they allow the hose to be feed on and off. The winter storage of the hose laying on the straight inner part of the toes is the part that could have been and should have been curbed so the hose can loop in circles. As expensive as these are, I would of thought that the curb would have been part of the first rack. 4Extremely happy with it!Can't recommend this enough! A couple of years ago I bought a circular plastic hose rack for about the same price and it lasted all of a few months before cracking and falling apart. When I saw this it looked perfect for the space I have so, sick of dealing with my hose in a messy pile, bought it. When I first saw it I thought it couldn't be strong enough but when I took it out of the package I was impressed with its sturdiness. It took me just a couple of minutes to install on an upright 4X4 (would easily attach to a 2X4 also) on my deck with two screws (not provided) and a hand screwdriver. The hose easily comes out as I walk with it, easily loops back in, it takes up minimal space and all in all is an excellent product.UPDATE 6/25/17. Just recommended this to a friend who saw it on my deck and thought I'd add an update now 18 months since I installed it. It's as good as the day I bought it! I live in the Caribbean so it gets a LOT of sun and a lot of use. An excellent buy. 5Very good value!I was looking for a reel or some other way to mount my two hoses (backyard and front yard). Having them in a pile on the ground was sloppy and cluttered, and removing them with each use would get tedious. I was looking for a cost effective solution. So many reels and other products out there are way too expensive for the service they provide. This rack is a really good deal. For under $14 (current price) it works as well as any other hose storage system. My 1/2 inch wide 50 foot hose slips right in, and it is as easy as grab and go for me to get it out. Based on other reviews I read, it doesn't work so well for hoses with larger diameters.Mounting was easy enough. 3 screws in the 3 holes provided. I do wish it came with some mounting screws or equipment of any kind. It can be an inconvenience if you don't have appropriately sized screws laying around. It really wouldn't cost the company that much to include a couple screws, and consumers like myself wouldn't mind paying a couple extra cents (the cost of screws when purchased in bulk) for the convenience. 4I like the concept and it makes storing the hose easyI like the concept and it makes storing the hose easy. It also keeps the hose mostly flat against the wall which makes parking a car next to it in the garage a non issue. But, I notice it kinking my expensive never kink hose. No matter how small or big I make the loops it seems like over the long term it may damage the hose. The problem is that the "toes" that grip the hose are small and exert a lot of pressure on the contact point of the hose. If the toes were larger and arced I think this product would be a home runUpdate: I've stopped using this thing. The damage to the hose is unacceptable. I hung a quality NeverKink hose and it would flatten and crease the hose at each toe. It just wasn't worth it. A tradition half moon shaped hose hanger, while not as low profile, doesn't damage my hose whatsoever. Buy with caution. If you have expensive hoses this item may damage then. 1When you go back to buy a 2nd one, you know it is goodWould recommend without hesitation. It is really sturdy and easily holds our heavy duty no-kink 25 ft water hose. We bought this as a space-saver over our hose-reel storage container.UPDATE: Bought this additional one for our 100' contractor water hose and it still doesn't disappoint. Easily works as well as the Gecko's Toes Water Hose Rack holding our 25" hose. 5Mounting information contained hereinUPDATED 2015/07/19:I installed it in my garage on a concrete block wall. I'm happy to say the 3/16" concrete bit I had laying around for Tapcon screws worked perfectly. So my new recommendation is to get some 3/16" Tapcons (or equivalent) with flat (countersunk) heads. Install one screw first to keep the rack from sliding around (I suggest securing the bottom hole first), and then drill your holes while you hold the rack in position. Easy peasy. If you mount on a block wall like I did, try to locate your screws for maximum thread depth. Blocks tend to have two hollow areas, so try to put a screw right down the middle of a block or right on the sides, but not too close otherwise you might crack the edge of the block.----------------------------------Haven't installed this yet but it seems like it would do the job. I'll update this review once I have a better idea of how well it works for me.For reference, this rack comes with 3 mounting holes, each with diameter approximately 0.175", aligned vertically with the rack. Call them holes A, B, and C. The center-to-center distance for A-B is approx 3.546" while B-C are approx 4.725" apart. Unfortunately, the surface underneath where the head of the screw would contact during tightening is curved rather than flat, so some damage of the base material can be expected during installation of the fasteners. My recommendation is that these holes be drilled out to accept 3/16" Tapcons (or equivalent self-tapping concrete screws) if the wall is brick, block, or concrete. For those that like to go overkill on mounting their hardware, I'd drill out the holes even more and use 1/4"-20 socket head cap screws and expanding zinc anchors; no washers required. 5Cool idea!an interesting device to hold the hose, seems to work well, be sure to get out all the hose you will require before turning on the water... as the hose expands and locks itself in the toes. Im using 3/4 contractor hose x 100 ft. 4Quality item that works as advertised.I bought two of these last year and they have held up well. Didn't crack in the cold nor warp in the sun. So I just placed an order for a third. 5
