Customer Reviews

Lasted for a month and a half. The non-stick feature of this pan lasted a month and a half. Now everything sticks even when I use oil or butter. Don't make the same mistake I did and think you could get decent quality in a piece of cookware for $18. I'd like to add, the handle is heavier than the pan so it wobbled and was annoying to cook with at times. I have learned my lesson. 1extremely poor quality all around!quite a shame this grill pan turned out to be such poor quality for i love the comfy handle, the size is perfect for two and the weight is great for my sometimes painful wrist to pick up....but, clearly i made a poor choice and quite suprised how many good reviews these Gibson home pans got when they are made so cheaply.. coating is peeling off near handle screws before even getting used, dings/chips on edge of pan already and silver handle area is clearly not metal but, some kind of coating as well that as you can see in my pic has a large area peeling away too! sadly, this is getting returned and i for one will never order another GH product again..1UPDATED REVIEW! They do not last very long.UPDATED REVIEW!!!I originally wrote a 5 star review for this product because these skillets worked beautifully within the first week and a half. The reason I'm bringing it down to 2 stars is due to the fact that my food began to stick really badly. Even though I followed the recommendations on how to properly care for ceramic via an article I read (Use low to medium heat only, use silicone utensils in it, wait until completely cool to clean, use a silicone brush to clean, etc.) the non-stick surface quickly began to turn to a stick surface. I tried so hard to keep these nice, but they failed. Now a good portion of my eggs are uneaten because they're stuck and won't come out easily. The only way it comes out, and this is actually a cheap and toxic-free way to clean them thankfully, is to mix vinegar with baking soda and some water. It'll bubble at first, but not for long. Once the bubbles go away heat up the skillet to a boil and let it simmer for at least 15 minutes. Turn the heat off and let it sit there for as long as you feel is necessary. I usually go up to an hour, or sometimes all day if I don't need the skillet anytime soon. I'm telling you, it works wonders to get any left over food/debris without damaging the surface. My skillet was sticky with olive oil recently. No amount of Dawn could remove it. I had to use the vinegar/baking soda method. Once I did that the surface was nice and smooth again, and the non-stick feature seems to partially return (it's not perfect, but it's okay), BUT the catch is I have to use this method after every single use, even if it's just eggs being made.I think my next route is going to be a cast iron skillet, since they last a lifetime and are non stick if you season them properly, but we'll see. I've honestly never tried cast iron before, but given my bad experience with these ceramic skillets I'm willing to try it out.2The best value pan I've found10 months with use several times a week and these pans are going strong with no degradation in performance. The best value pan I've found. If you are one of those people that never changes the oil in your car and wonders why the engine freezes, these pans are not for you. They do require care and maintenance. Yes if you put the handle over direct heat it will melt - if you want to do this shell out the extra $80 for a more expensive pan. Also never wash it with anything more abrasive than a paper towel, and make sure not to over heat them, and don't stack them in with other pans or stack anything inside it [easy to damage the coating]. I waited to write my review as I wouldn't sure how it would hold up but almost a year in I'm very happy with this purchase.5GET THE GREEN KINDI originally bought the Dutch Oven at a store in town. It had a green coating. At the same store I also bought the set of fry pans, but with a white coating. I didn't think there'd be a difference. THERE IS! The green coating is way better!!!! The white coating gets scorched easier, scratched easier, it's not non-stick & is so much harder to clean. The green coating is non-stick, doesn't burn food as much & easy to clean. Since ruining the 2 white coated pans, I've taken extra care not to use metal in them & to clean them shortly after I'm done using them. I now own all sizes, all with a green coating. The only downsides are that the handles may get too hot to handle & the matte coating on the outside is hard to clean without scratching & can show wear.5Working great even after over a month of almost daily use.Wife got it to make curry and one pot pasta. It's been over a month and she's been using it pretty much every other day, sometimes several days in a row. There has been ZERO scratches. Wife uses non metal spatulas in it and washes it using soap and a plastic sponge. The ONLY scratches it has had are on the outer side of the pan from rubbing against the stove itself which is totally normal. All in all, great value for money so far.5Love my new pan! This is a perfect size. Deep, lightweight, and literally NOTHING STICKS!!! It stays white. Cleanup is just a quick dip under the faucet and a paper towel to dry. My old pan was like a coating that started peeling and this is not like that. Everything slides out of the pan onto the plate. My old pans lid fits perfect. You won't be disappointed!! There was no need to cure. My first time I really put it to the test with a very sugary bacon and there was no sticking, the sugar syrup turned to a crystal and lifted out with a spoon, and nothing stuck.5Amazing Surface, but pans are thin and warp with heatRoughly two years ago I purchased 4 different pans and have been rotating and using them ever since. Below are the pans and a review of each. The winner, by leaps and bounds, is the Cuisinart (not purchased on Amazon)Gibson 91601.02 Home Hummington Eco-Friendly Ceramic Non-Stick Fry Pan----------------------------------------------------------------------------Non-Stick Surface: Wow! I fried eggs on them today and I'm not impressed..the eggs were sticking to the pan as if it wasn't a non stick pan.2NOT SAFE for bird owners! We purchased this specific pan after reading that it was PTFE and PFOA-free because we just adopted a baby parrot and know that those substances are toxic to birds. One week after purchasing our parrot, cage, food, equipment, etc. for ~$1800, we used this pan to cook breakfast and our bird in the next room was dead within an hour due to toxicity poisoning. If you have a pet bird, USE EXTREME CAUTION with ANY of these products as they are truly deadly to your beloved animals even though they are advertised as being "safe".1Excellent ChoiceI have tried a variety of ceramic coated pans over the years and this one seems to be no different than most I've tried. The key to using ceramic coated pans is to ensure that you don't get it too hot. You must use medium to low heat for pans like this to maintain their non-stick properties. The second you get them too hot, you might as well throw them away. I've also found that these pans have to be hand washed. I think the dishwasher gets too hot as the pans will lose their non-stick properties when frequently washed in the dishwasher. I don't find it makes any difference whether I use cooking spray or or oil - contrary to one of the reviews I read. These pans will last me about 12-18 months before I ruin them and have to throw them out. That seems to be the nature of ceramic pans and these are no different. These are an excellent option of you want non-stick pans that are reasonably priced. I have not found any other non-stick option that lasts much longer than these. The only ones I've tried that last a bit longer cost me $100 per pan! These more expensive pans lasted about 3 years, but we're used significantly less than my ceramic coated pans. At that price, it makes more sense to simply replace the cheaper ones more often.5
