Pretty, But Too Many IssuesIt's a very pretty tea kettle. However, it has several problems:1. The whistle only whistles sometimes, and when it does whistle, you can't hear it if you're in the other room.2. We have a gas stove. So it doesn't take forever to heat, we put it on a high large flame. The red chin part melts and gets all over my stove.3. When you pour, water gets all over the counter.I've only owned this for a year, but I'm already having to buy a different tea kettle because of the problems I've listed. I cannot recommend this.1Attractive zebra teakettle with a surprise.I like this zebra teakettle, very much. It looks beautiful sitting on my black stove, and goes well with the zebra salt and pepper shakers I also purchased. My only cons are that the teakettle in person, is almost identical to the giraffe teakettle, with the long neck and camel-like face, but with a zebra paint job; and the fact that it doesn't actually whistle -- it honks, like a car horn!! It is really loud! The first time I used my kettle and it started to "whistle", I thought there was a really rude person outside honking their car horn, or that someone's car alarm was going off. It took me a few moments to realize it was my new zebra teakettle that was making that loud, obnoxious noise! If you don't mind that it doesn't actually whistle, it is a very nice teakettle.4Super cute ^_^ The whistle did work at first, but it needs to be checked if it s not stuck or something. After that I had no issues. Love it! Looks super cute. 5The Kettle Doesn't WhistleI expected to love this tea kettle. It has exactly the same shape and design as one we have had and loved for many years (which finally wore through on the bottom, and thus needs to be replaced). Ok, the old one was white and red, and this new one is black and white, but otherwise everything is the same. Except that the spout on this one doesn't quite fit correctly onto the kettle. The result is that, no matter how madly the water is boiling, the kettle doesn't crow. Now, you can boil water in a saucepan --- the whole point of a whistling tea kettle is the whistle. Since this one doesn't whistle, or make any other warning noise, the safety feature that you buy it for, fails. Every time.1Cute and I love the bee hive tea kettle! I received this tea kettle today and it is adorable. If you want a tea kettle that sounds like a horn, then this one is for you. Can t say I m crazy about the sound but I figure i will get quite a few laughs from family and friends. Please see the video and pic.5LOVE! Use screwdriver for whistleThis is the cutest thing, and seems like high quality. I ve been sick and billing tons of water for tea, and just looking at this kettle makes me smile.THE WHISTLE - Yes, it s an odd whistle, like an air horn in the distance. It s a subtle noise that you will probably not hear from another room, which prevents you from leaving it unattended (which you shouldn t be doing anyway)! IF ITS NOT WHISTLING AT ALL - take a little Phillips head screwdriver and adjust the metal plate under the spout cover. The plate should be flat and even with the edge of the spout cover. If it s too far up inside, it will not whistle AND it will drip water onto the stove.5Well-Built, but Sounds like a Harmonica! We bought this teapot mostly for its whimsical appearance. It does not disappoint! A few pros and cons about this teapot:The Good:- We get tons of positive comments from visitors who want to know where we got it!- It has a nice, heavy, solid bottom that should resist warping.- It "whistles" when it's boiling. I will say, though, that it doesn't whistle like a traditional teapot. It sounds like a harmonica, which you may or may not like. The Bad:- You have to grab the lid by the "tusks" to pour water. If you don't wait for the steam to stop coming out of the lid, you can easily burn your fingers.- The handle usually gets pretty hot while the water boils, making it difficult to pour the water out.Overall, we think this a nice quality teapot that looks good enough to sit on the stove all the time. We're not huge tea drinkers, but we feel like this teapot will give us years of good use.5super cute tea kettlesuper cute tea kettle!!! Work great, but the thing is the "whistle" of the kettle. The kettle does not whistle but gives off a sound much like a tornado warning. Kinda strange to hear and not very loud either. Two other things I want to point out is that the seal of the top is not secure like other kettle. So this might be the reason that the whistling (tornado warning) is not loud. And lastly, its awkward to pour from the kettle. The handle is round and the seal is not secure so you have to careful to not hurt yourself from the hot stream. I use a gloved pot holder when using the kettle. I will NOT return the kettle because its very cute sitting on my stove:)4My love loves ceramic figure teapotsMy love loves ceramic figure teapots, so when I saw this cow figure kettle I thought it was a perfect replacement for our aging steel kettle. Just got it yesterday and tried it out this morning. Functionally it is very disappointing. There are no real seals on the kettle, steam leaks from the lid and around the spout. The poor seal makes the whistle, which is really a humming sound, very quiet and hard to hear. I heard the sound of water hitting the burner from condensing steam around the bad seals before I heard the whistle. The spout tends to dribble down the front when pouring also making a mess on the counter. For the most part,t we only use our kettle anymore to sit on top of hot burners so our cats do not accidentally walk on them and we do like the cow shape which fits the decor of the kitchen, so we are probably going to keep the kettle. I think we will still be using the old kettle for actually boiling water, though.2Fixed The WhistleUPDATE!I found a very helpful photo that shows how to check to make sure the reed plate has not been jammed during assembly or shipping. See the customer pictures for this product.http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B002OTGTW8/ref=cm_cr_dp_cust_img_see_all_img0Okay, maybe it holds water and doesn't explode when heated but it's advertised as a "Whistling" tea kettle and it DOESN'T. I bought this as a birthday present for my mother. What a disappointment.5Cute but unfuctional. This pot is cute but as far as quality... I am a little disappointed. The handle does not move, which makes it hard to add water and it also gets VERY HOT!!! I have to use a towel or oven mitt to pour the water out.The face and handle are both made out of plastic, this makes me worry they will catch on fire.It sits on my stove as decoration and has rarely been used.1
