These things are bright . They glow evens in dim lighting . They also work like new wire strippers should. Very easy to cut thru wire and strips them with ease! The curved handl makes it easy for use ! With that being said the product is great, craftsmanship is excellent but with Klein that is a given . The only downfall is the idea to have glow in the dark handles is cool but in the trade world the handle will get dirty and will get crap on it , along with nics and scratches . I can only imagine how long it will glow for until it s coated in hard work ! Ha but overall great product and great idea !
4It's rated this high for a reason.
I needed a wire stripper and cutter to replace outlets around the house, and this tool is perfect for the job. I got the 10-18 AWG Solid, 12-20 AWG Stranded version, and it fit my needs perfectly. Stripping and cutting wires was a breeze, much easier than scoring a wire with an exacto knife and trying to get a precise cut.
Straight out this tool rocks. I literally had to cut pieces of wire and roll it under an exacto knife to strip 32 gauge before this, one piece at a time, since my other pair only went to 28ga. That made wiring circuits a pain, and ended up taking forever, I tried burning the wires coating off but then it wouldn't solder because it would oxidize the wire. So instead of cutting the wire with an exacto... or burning the wire and sand paper I finally got this.Long story short, This tool works great on 32ga (you have to slightly tip the tool to strip 32ga tho, but hell that's nothing compared.)after some time using it with 32 gauge wire, the stripper works but the blades cant cut 32 gauge wire (lost a star for that) (theres a space between the 2 blades (aka snip area))..... so I have to use my old tool for that.
4Makes Striping small wires SO much easier.
You really need these if you need to strip small wires. I was extremely tired of stripping small wires with knife, or cutters, or scissors or ANYTHING else not made to do this job. I am in a position where I need to strip cat5 and cat 6 cables from time to time (not for normal network cables). That is 22 or 24 awg and this makes it SO much easier. One word of off topic advice, I did have someone ask me what you do if you need to strip smaller wires than these will do. In that small of a gauge, you are probably soldering, and you can normally just strip them with the heat from the soldering iron.
5EXCELLENT SMALL GAUGE WIRE STRIPPERS
I do wiring for a living. I make cables and I am constantly prepping small wires to solder in tight places. I needed wire strippers that were precise on very small gauges. These are excellent, they don't take any more than they are supposed to. Now my 26 gauge stranded wires don't lose any hairs when I'm stripping off the jacket.Klein tools always have a quality feel, these are top-shelf and highly recommended if you do wiring for a living.
I bought this primarily to strip 30awg Kynar. For the most part they do the job pretty well. However, I also bought the Ideal Industries stripper (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047D05JM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it strips 30awg better. If stripping 30awg is your primary use I would go with the Ideal Industries stripper but overall this is still a great, well built tool.
4Being Klein I expected them to be excellent or at least good but would rate these at ...
I was underwhelmed with these strippers. Being Klein I expected them to be excellent or at least good but would rate these at just being okay mostly because the openings are just a little too big and so that wire jacket doesn't get completely cut and it is hard to pull off requiring some extra twisting and turning. A pair of strippers I got at all places at harbor freight work much better and at a fraction of the cost, unfortunately they don't work for larger size conductors.
3Don't stay fully closed in "lock" position
Fairly disappointed. I've used channel lock brand strippers for 8 years now, and bought these because of the glow in the dark handles. The Klein strippers do not stay fully closed when you"lock" them. Bought 2 pairs, both are like that. Ended up removing the grips from the Klein and putting them on the channel locks. Also the Klein didn't open as wide as channel lock. If I could, I'd buy only the grips to glue them on the better strippers. Those issues alone were enough that I stopped using the Klein after 30 mins of use. They seemed to strip fine, and cut wire well if you could get it in.
2Highly recommend this stripper; you'll only have to pay once and she'll keep stripping for a good long time
Great stripper ...I mean, not quite as good as the ones from my college days, but they weren't quite this sharp.I replaced a cheap home depot $10 stripper with this one and the difference is stunning. It cuts wires with a resounding sharp "click" and strips like wires were meant to be naked. Really, a great tool if you're going to be stripping every once in a while - or every day.
5These are the 10-12 gauge wire strippers you want.
These are the correct strippers for stranded and copper core 10 and 12 gauge wire. I am so glad I finally bought the right tool. I've struggled with diagonal cutters, which won't cut through tough wire or romex nearly as easily these. I've used the cool self-pulling strippers for small wire gauges, and those are great, but not for big AC wires. I have sharp wire cutters and usually struggle through with those. I have two pairs of the crappy strippers from my dad's collection, with a stop nut that you adjust to strip but not cut your wire: those never work well for long.I'm finally smart enough to buy the right tool before I start a project, and am so happy I got these before I rewired, used EMT conduit, and put in a 100amp panel in my barn. I'd be still working on the first circuit otherwise, swearing at how frustrating it is to get insulation off.
