Great Quality CuttersI recently decided to start upgrading my tool set from consumer quality Lowe Depot tools to something that will last, and ultimately settled on Knipex. After switching over a handful of tools already, I am extremely happy with the quality and workmanship put into their tools. The teeth are tight when closed and there is no side play in the two sides. I also like the comfort grip handles over the regular rubber coated, as it better fits my hands and makes them more comfortable to use. I've only used these on a handful of things, but so far the edge is still sharp and these beauties continue to cut clean.5Great quality tool from Knipex like always.These cutters are exactly what you expect from Knipex... top quality. The handle feels great, very ergonomic. They look a little funny with the grips being asymmetrical, but they really do work well that way. The grips are on very solid, they seem very unlikely to come loose and slide off.After a months of daily use on a construction site (electrician) you still can't see daylight through the cutting edge. Fantastic.One thing you'll notice about German tools compared to their American counterparts is they use a different type of steel that is more flexible. You can notice it, when you really squeeze on these cutters there is a little springyness to the handles. This makes the steel less likely to break, its not a sign of low quality materials. Most other German pliers are the same way... it is supposed to help increase the grip or cutting power as well.Only downside is it took about 2 weeks for these to arrive from Germany. Well worth the wait. These are cheaper than the Klein blue handled side cutters with the comfort grip, and they're a little better quality. Can't go wrong with any Knipex product.Once you start using Knipex pliers, you won't want to use any other brand.5Knipex make the best pliers in the worldThere knipex so anyone who actually knows tools know knipex is the best! These are extremely hard and will out live you. The grips are perfect. Strong and sturdy. These grips will not fall a part on you. The cutting edge will last as long as you cut intended surfaces. I tried them all. Klein, wiha and everything below the big names. Knipex is the best in the world!5Best set of cutters I've ever owned, period.Knipex is one of the few companies around where you can go through their entire lineup and reliably get what you pay for. You pay premium and that's what you get a premium product. Fit and finish is perfect, no rust, perfect jaw alignment and tension is just right. The only company I like as much or more "in a few instances" is NWS.This is my second set or these, my first set did not have these cushion grips which btw are a really really nice upgrade. Reliably cuts through hardened wire, nails, small screws & cotter pins "when I have to" and the jaws still look like new without any dents or gaps.I also have these in a 10 inch model but if you can only choose one set the 8 inch seems to always be the go to. Keep in mind with high leverage cutters like this, 3/4 of the overall length is the extended joint. The head and jaws on the 200mm/ 8" high leverage is about the same as their 180mm/ 7-1/4" model standard cutters5Excellent cutter. I work in engine harness development and ...Excellent cutter. I work in engine harness development and testing. I use these everyday; they fit comfortably in your hands even when putting a lot of pressure on them. I typically cut wire ranging from 18 - 8 AWG and cables/bundles of various composition and haven't had any issue. They are not a flush cut pliers so if you need a flush cut you'll have to keep looking.5Fantastic cutters. Worth the price.Excellent cutters. It seems that the only limit to what you can cut is your hand strength. Chain link fence is nothing to these cutters. I was even able to cut through horseshoe nails with one hand and not cause any damage to the cutting edge. Another fantastic product from knipex. They may be expensive but they just work.5Not for Hi-TensileThese 8" wire cutters do not cut 12 gauge high-tensile wire. They barely dent it. The photos show them cutting nails and springs. The description talks about piano wire. It seems like they should be able to cut fence wire. Otherwise, very comfy grips and nicely made. They just won't work for the purpose I intended, to replace a set of cheap Chinese 8" fence cutters. Knipex - you let me down. [Knipex 7402200 8-Inch High Leverage Diagonal Cutters - Comfort Grip]2For those who live off their toolsBetter than Channellock 338 and music to the ear with a sweet "clack" without drag when you snap trough the air. Cuts good and have a longer cutting edge than the Channellock, solid grip and amazing quality. I also ordered the Channellock 338CB (shorty grips) and the CB grips are just soft rubber with a cheap sticky feel compared to the dual compound sturdy clean comfort grips of Knipex. I returned the Channellock because the grip wasn't even close in quality and feel as the Knipex. Cutting ability is similar for both. The Knipex also feel lightweight in the hand and the blue part of the grip is non-slip while the red is more for structural strength. I used them in very hot marine weather and even with sweaty hands they felt perfect and never sticky or slippery. It is worth the extra money when you make your living with these tools. Just don't lend them or leave them around because they might find a new home pretty quickly. For the record, I paid $34.89 on July 18th, 2015, delivered on July 28th, sold and shipped by Amazon.com.5Just average cutters I purchased the Knipex 09 12 240, and they are great!! A++++. These diagonal pliers don't seem to be the same quality as the linemans. I'm a little disappointed because I was hoping for a high quality pair of cutters. I'm not saying these are bad, but I'm not blown away by them. I will continue my search for the ultimate diagonal cutters!! 3the best diagonal cutters I've ever usedThese pliers are typical of Knipex - the jaws are perfectly aligned, sharp, and hard. They cut wire of all sizes as easily as possible, and make clean, reliable, and predictable cuts. Not the cheapest, but worth every penny. I've had, and still have, several other pairs of diagonal cutters (most less expensive, and a couple of pairs more so), but I always reach for these first, and find it hard to see how they can be improved on.5Smaller than I thought It's a great quality tool but take note of the sizes...this is quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be. It cuts 14/3 Romex without much of a problem but 12/2 becomes a bit of a struggle because of the reduced leverage the short handles give you.Still a top-quality item for what it is though. Wouldn't expect less from Knipex. 5Funktioniert sehr gutThis purchase moves my 20-years old pair of Klein 8-in Lineman's into active reserve status. It took about ten of those years to loosen up the joint enough to consider the action smooth. They were very tight. These pliers, out of the box, have a very smooth action. The joint has been oozing some tool oil, so it looks like the joint itself was lubricated from the factory, which may have some influence on that effect. I don't mean to imply that the joint feels loose. Quite the opposite. Just that it's smooth.I chose these, as opposed to one of the many other styles of cutting pliers in the Knipex catalog, because I was hoping for a tough, durable set of cutters that would be as effective as cutting up to 8 AWG copper wire as the Klein's in a slightly smaller and lighter package. I have only had these for about a month of regular use, but so far they exceed what I was expecting, even considering the price. They feel tough, at the same time light and agile, and they cut supremely well. The business end was clearly manufactured to precision tolerances and with properly treated steel.I have had another set of Knipex pliers with this composite grip for a bit longer than these, but in no way anything that can be considered a "long term". Most tools I've purchased with a "comfort grip" are not positively attached to the handle, and eventually start sliding off. Now to be fair I haven't really tried tugging on these, but when they're loose they're loose and you know it right away. I get the impression I will not be having to worry about these sliding about.Judging by the standard of "if these were stolen from you today would you replace them tomorrow" my answer after having them this short time is definitely yes, and so I give these cutters five stars.5
