Customer Reviews

Easily swap out nibs on Safari, Vista AL-StarI have had the crappiest luck with my Lamy purchases I think I stick with the brand because nib replacements are a snap. Don't get me wrong I wish I could receive my Lamy's in working order but I am glad the nibs are available for sale instead of having to purchase a brand new pen. 5Decent Nib replacement. This replacement nib is also not quite as smooth as the factory installed nib that came with the pen, but perhaps it will smooth out with use. It appears to be in conformation with Lamy's specs, so I think it's reasonable to think that it's legit. The line it draws is a tiny bit more bold than I'm used to from a medium nib, but in a good way, if that makes sense. It has a substantial feel in that it doesn't allow too much flexing with added pressure. 4Ordered a Fine Nib Pen - Prefer a MediumI ordered a fine nib on my Lamy pen. I had been using medium and wanted to try the fine. I prefer the medium. Both worked well. Just a personal preference to change. 5Nib was a tad loose but I found a simple fix.I like the nib very much and would have given it 5 stars except it was just a tad loose (which while not typical is not unusual either, apparently). I thought I might have to return it, but some searching on the internet returned the following adjustment (worked like a charm):1. First you have to place the Lamy nib on a hard flat surface like a table. To protect the table for dents caused by the 2 small L shaped metal nib profiles resting on the table it is a good idea to put some paper between the table and the nib.2. Find a rectangular straight piece of wood of roughly 20 to 25 cm (8 to 10 in) length.3. Then carefully rest the piece of wood on the top of the rear part of the Lamy nib where the Lamy logo and nib type designation are written. The wood should only cover the rear part up to the breather hole or the nib size designation in case of a stub nib. Beware to keep away from the front end of the nib where the breather hole and/or nib slit is!4. Now whist keeping the piece of wood parallel to the table carefully apply some downward force with your hands on the piece of wood. This will slightly deform the rear part of the Lamy nib that is used for the feed connection making it fit more tightly on the feed. Never press on the nib with great force to avoid excessive deformation! Instead gently apply pressure in increasing small increments whilst regularly checking if the rear part of the Lamy nib got deformed enough to appropriately fit on the feed.If a Lamy nib is very tightly fitted on its feed and hard to remove by hand you can resort to grabbing the nib with a piece of rubber for extra grip. A more drastic method to remove an excessive tightly fitted Lamy nib is using sticking sticky tape stuck on the top of the nib to pull the nib off its feed. 4Arrived on time and as advertisedPreviously I had a fine nib on my Lamy Safari. I had another Lamy with a broad nib. I bought this to see what a medium nib looked like. Works great. 5Good nib.I used this nib to replace an extra fine that was too scratchy for my liking. This one works great. It does lay down quite a bit more ink, but not so much as to leave the paper wet. I haven't had any smudges with it. I used waterman's ink in my Lamy. 5Lamy Nib (M)Lamy makes beautiful pens and one of my favorite features for their pens would be the interchangeable nibs. Rediform was quick with their shipment and the nib came in perfect condition (which unfortunately, doesn't happen sometimes as I've read reviews on people receiving nibs that are bent) The M Lamy Nib (in comparison with other nibs, it writes thicker than a 0.7 pen) and is more for people that like to write thick and fluid.I was not given anything to write this review, just a happy customer that likes to write reviews to help people make purchases. 5Received an Imperfect Lamy NibI had to return this purchase as it was an imperfect item sold as New. I mean, it might have been new, but the tines were not even; one side was noticeably thinner than the other side. It looked especially odd because there was full tipping on both sides, making the nib look deformed. 1Awesome NibBought this nib for my Safari because the extra fine one my pen came with was Terribly scratchy hoping this one was going to be smoother and score this one was like night and day the Med nib I received writes as smooth as butter like skates on ice plus the black color looks great highly recommend 5May have been slightly damaged before shipment? This does seem to be a genuine Lamy nib, but the one I got was a bit rough. It seemed to have a "crease" or "fold" down the long axis of the nib, as if it'd been squeezed by a pair of pliers or something. As a result, it seems to either write too wetly, or not at all, as it maintains inconsistent contact with the feed in my pen. 3
