AA version is GREAT; C version is LESS PRACTICALWe purchased this lamp 4-5 years ago (2014) when they were still using AA batteries, and have loved it. It is especially lovely to have during power outages. However, we wanted to buy a second one today (in 2019) and noticed that lamp now uses C batteries instead of AA. If you already have a battery charger for C batteries, go ahead and buy this lamp. If you're like us and only have a charger for AAA/AAs, I'd recommend trying to find an older version of this lamp that still uses AA batteries, or go with some other model. One exception to my recommendation to finding a AA version would be if you plan to keep it on for long periods of time. In that case, you might prefer the C version because C batteries have about 3 times the capacity of AAs. So it should last longer than the AA version. We generally use ours only a few minutes a day and only need to change the AA batteries about twice a year.Interestingly, the description says the current model also can be plugged in. Maybe someone will find that useful. But there are so many better lamp options available if you have access to a power outlet. We like to use ours outside on the deck and in other areas where corded appliances are impractical. This is also a great lamp to have during a power outage because it provides better light than candles and is so much safer.5Description says AA batteries, but uses C batteries.I've ordered a couple of these in the past few months for family that fell in love with them. They all take 3 AA Batteries. I just ordered 3 more yesterday. They arrived this morning. All 3 use 3 C batteries! I made sure to read the description and can't find anything about C type batteries. Be aware that you may receive one that uses type C batteries, so it'll be more inconvenient if you use rechargeable batteries like my family. I won't be ordering more unless they make a new product page for their type C batteries product. It should definitely state it in the description if something about them has changed.3Great little lightThe switch that controls the outlets where my bedroom lamps plug in is not near my bed, so I have to walk a few paces in the dark when I get in or out of it. This nice little light is the perfect solution. It's stylish and solid so it doesn't slide around on my bedside table. The color temperature of the LED lights is toward cool white, which I wouldn't want in LEDs that I leave on, but since I only turn this on for a few minutes per night at most, the light is fine. I suspect the battery life will last a long while the way I intend to use the lamp. The LEDs cast enough light to light a good circle of space. Best of all the "one-touch" on/off switch hardly takes any pressure at all to activate. I've only used my "Light It!" for a few nights so far, but every time I turn it on I find myself muttering "Neat!" Overall this is really nicely designed and extremely functional light. Just what I wanted and well worth it for only $20.5A nice balance of light between not quite enough and too muchThis provides just enough light to navigate through a dark room without being uncomfortable to dark adapted eyes. It is not bright enough to reasonable read by but it is nicely bright enough to provide "night light" quantity lighting. If you need a light to light a bedroom for those middle-of-the-night trips to the bathroom, this light will be just right.5Just right light! When I'm watching television in my game room (my basement) with the ceiling lights off, this touch light is perfect for lighting up my snack tray. It's small enough not to get in the way and gives off just enough light to see how to operate the remote controls. It's battery operated so there's no cord to trip over. It's not a reading light and is probably too small to be used on your bed's night stand though. For my pupose, it works just fine. 5Have had mine for years and still love itI live in the middle of nowhere in the Sierra Nevada where our power tends to go out a lot. I bought this lantern in December of 2013 and it's still working with the original batteries I put in it back then. It's been over four years now! I turned it on today, though, and notice it's finally gotten dimmer, so it's time to put new ones in. I've never needed to use it for more than a few hours at a time, so that's why the batteries lasted so long. But this lamp is really bright. I've read by it, walked from room to room with it, spent one Christmas Eve hanging out with a friend during a power outage that lasted for 7 hours with it... It's never let me down.TIP: Something I started doing early on is find places to put it that are above my head, like on top of the fridge or on top of bookcases. Placing it somewhere high makes it much brighter than when it's on a table below eye level. Just the one lantern will light the whole room not as brightly as normal lights, of course, it's just a single lamp in one spot after all, so you probably wouldn't be able to sit at the opposite end of the room and do something unreasonable like threading a needle, but it's definitely bright enough to be able to leave it in one spot and still see what you're doing around as you move around. So if you need to light a large area, give that a try.5*Something Clever about a Cool Little Lamp Here*From memory, this little lamp is only about 8 or 9 inches tall. The top sort of "cap" part of the lamp is about 4 inches across. What this means is that this lamp takes up very little real estate. Do you have a cluttered desk but still wish you had room for a small lamp? Well, in all likelihood, you have room for this little guy.The base of the lamp is not metal. It's plastic that looks somewhat metallic. I don't mind this. You power the lamp on and off by touching the top of the lamp. One reviewer mentions that their copper colored lamp only turns on and off by pressing the very top of the dome on the top of the lamp. They seemed to say that they owned a few different colors of this lamp and that the copper colored one was the only one with this "quirk". I have the silver model and it also functions this way. Although it doesn't seem to show it in the picture provided on the lamp's product page, my lamp has an embossed area at the uppermost top of the dome with a power symbol (a circle with a little vertical line) on it. My lamp only powers on and off by touching that raised area...which, for the curious, is about the size of a dime.As for the lamp's function, don't expect one lamp to light up a room the way a floor lamp might. I initially had this on a table in pretty much the middle of a room that's roughly 11' x 14' or so. All I needed this lamp to do was cast enough light for me to get from my bed to a light switch that is totally across the room without stubbing my toe or otherwise hurting myself. I wanted something close to my bed that I could turn on first thing when I woke up and that I could turn off as I was climbing into bed for the night. It does exactly what I need it to do.I wasn't looking for something to use for reading so this doesn't effect me, but I wouldn't recommend this lamp if you're looking for something to use as a bed side reading light. The light emitted by the lamp is very bright in a 1 foot radius around the base of the lamp. Outside of this "circle of light", it gets dark very quickly. I imagine that reading with it while sitting in bed would be about as effective as reading with a flashlight sitting 3 feet away and pointing in the wrong direction. I could see using this lamp to read while sitting at a desk, though, as you could put your reading material in the "circle of light" and be able to see just fine. So...in the end whether or not to buy this for reading is really more a question of how exactly you want to use it.While looking for a lamp, all I really cared about was not needing to plug it into a wall outlet. This way I could put it anywhere (even a table in the middle of the room) without worrying about tripping over a power cord. The touch functionality was not really what I was shopping for, but I'm very pleased with the feature. It's much easier to reach out and touch the top of this lamp than it would be to fumble around trying to find a power switch. The lamp takes 3 AA Batteries which are not included. The batteries supposedly last for 36 hours. They should last me a very long time considering the lamp will only be on for about 5 minutes at a time two or three times a day.I know it says so in the item's name, but it bears mentioning that the bulbs in this lamp are LED's. You probably own several flashlights that use these as the source of light. The quality of the light the lamp casts is very..."cold". This lamp doesn't shine the warm, yellowish or amber sort of light you can get from an incandescent bulb. Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining...it was just something I noticed and thought I should mention it.Let me end this by saying that I really like my lamp. Very soon I'll be buying one to put on my dresser.5Disappointed in purchaseSo.... I have one of these touch lights that use AA batteries. It is fantastic, love the three levels of brightness. I ordered one for friends that live off grid. The first light that arrived was defective. I returned that and received the replacement yesterday. When it arrived, the package had obviously been opened previously and sloppily repackaged. To make matters worse, the lamp I received was the simple on/off model, NOT the three levels of brightness I originally ordered. Very disappointed.3They don't last more than about a year.I've purchased four of these over the last few years. I used them outside on a covered table (it doesn't get rain). Three of them lasted just over a year. They really look attractive and I get a lot of comments on how cool they are. They put out enough light to light up an 8ft table. But at $22/lamp they are a bit expensive to replace every 13 months or so. Since they just won't turn on I don't really know if it's the battery leads that go bad or the led bulbs - there's just no way to tell (I have a battery tester so I know it isn't the batteries. I suppose a rechargeable would be the way to go but I never think to recharge before a party. :( I will buy them again but I'm pretty disappointed in how long they last.3Great functional and stylish lamp!Pros:(1) Stylish(2) Portable(3) Easy touch on and off(4) Can entertain drunk guests for hours (I have seen this happen.)(5) Can be used for a variety of improvised games that no one will remember in the morning (I have seen this happen.)Cons:(1) Not extremely bright(2) So much fun it may be stolen by drunk friends (I have seen this happen. I would recommend buying a spare.)5Errors in disclosure - seller should correct product disclosure ASAPIt is a nice modern plastic LED light. I have some concerns to the product description which states; "ADJUSTABLE LIGHT" It is not adjustable, which infers dimmable. See attached screenshot. Also the fact that it discloses type of battery, there are issues with type of batteries needed.See comments other than this one, I understood updates, however and more importantly in their product description 120V indicating that it could be recharged or plugged in to 120v power supply.See attached second screenshot.3
