These are good. Nothing fancy. They just work! Needed some LED dimmers for new can lights and already had some experience with these and others. These Lutrons using the rocker switch type format with a sliding bar to adjust do the job just fine. Good price-point, solid as a rock, nothing fancy since they have no LED bar graphs or even indication on them but do the job just fine. They work on CFL, halogen, LED and I think incandescent os you cannot go wrong. The first one I shorted out with a direct short and it definitely killed it but I have to take credit for not reading very well before installing. Since I bought 3 at one time the second and third ones went in just fine once I studied the wiring diagram. It was not real clear at first but again that was my fault. Anyone with a little electrical experience really should be able to install these. These have a 2 position selector for the minimum dimmer adjustment that will be based on your light bulb selection but it is not big deal since LED do not build up heat using only 13watts. I would recommend these to my friends as a simple dimmer solution for LED lights. The lights do not flicker whatsoever thru out the dimming range. 4The switch is upside down. If you install the ... The switch is upside down. If you install the switch so the rocker is off when pressed on the downside, the dimmer is upside down, meaning to brighten the light you must slide the bar down... not up as us you would expect. If you want the dimming to work as you might expect (up is brighter) then you will have to press the rocker switch in the direction you would expect it to be off to turn it on.Lutron Diva C.L Dimmer for dimmable LED, Halogen, and Incandescent Bulbs, Single-Pole or 3-Way, DVCL-153P-WH-3, White (3-Pack) 2Well-designed and LED-friendly This is the first dimmer installed in my house, so I don't have much experience with them, but I'm very happy with this. It was very simple to install as easy as a standard light switch with very good instructions. I also like the style with the large switch controlling on/off and the small slider on the side doing the dimming. It makes it really easy to dim, unlike some styles that have a button for dimming where you need to cycle through the levels of dimness, and it allows you to leave the light on the same dimness level for the next time you turn it on, or to change the dimness before turning the light on.The dial on the side allows you to set the lowest dimness level, which is necessary for working with different bulbs and convenient for setting your lowest level of choice. This dimmer fits a standard rocker plate, and works well with LEDs. The only change I would like is a slightly more substantial slider for the dimming since this one can feel a little small to get a hold on. 5only dimmer for chinese noname leds i've been struggling for years with dimmers that worked great on leds from us/eu product control brands like polaroid and phillips, but were terrible with noname chinese bulbs that claimed to be dimmable. i wanted to invest in E12 LED, Dimmable Candelabra Base E12 Bulbs, ALL-NEW(102PCS), 7W E12 Led Bulb 75W Equvilent,730LM , 360 Degree Beam Angle T3/T4 Candelabra Base Corn Bulb, AC110-130V, 4-PACK ... (7W, Warm White) but needed the dimming to really work. the bulb seller had a list of dimmers they claimed would, i had one hand and found it did NOT dim properly, but before i returned the bulbs i decided to give this expensive lutron a try - sure enough it dimmed 8 bulbs from 95%-5% brightness without flicker gaps or buzz.since you are going to change your bulbs more frequently than you'd want to have to change your dimmer, i advise people to pay the premium and invest in this one so any bulb you throw at it years from now will continue to dim as expected. be advised this unit takes up a lot of space inside the wall box, so if you are swapping out this dimmer for a regular light switch in an old plaster wall home, it may be a struggle to make room for it without replacing old wire nuts, reinforcing the jackets of old wire bends and shaving down excess plaster debris. a nice touch is this dimmer included 3-way accommodation you can leave unused, which again is something you may do in the future even if you only need a 2-way now.2019 update: i recently bought flat led ceiling lamps (where the led was already integrated into the low profile fixture) and these dimmers also worked great, so i'm glad i made these the standard all around my home. 5don't buy. two of the three switches were the wrong model number and not for LED's I would absolutely not recommend this product. The box of three dimmers was in perfect condition, but when opened, two of the dimmers inside were the wrong model dimmer. NOT able to be used for LED's! AND those two dimmers were obviously used - they had oily dirt smeared on the face of the switch, the stripped wire ends were bent, and there were visible screw head marks on the yoke. I thought I could save a few dollars by buying in bulk, but I shouldn't have done that. I hope to save you from the hassle. 1Good dimmers but buy them New. Don't use Amazon Warehouse's Used option I purchased the Used, but in great shape, pack of dimmer switches sold through Amazon Warehouse. It even had the piece of paper in it saying they were tested and found to be in good working order.Two out of three dimmer switches didn't work and I wasted a significant amount of time in the dark trouble shooting them. Very frustrating experience.The one that did work is by far the best dimmer switch I've ever used with LED's, it controls the lighting from very low to very high and is quiet. Poor dimming range and a buzzing has been a problem for me with the LED's and dimmers in the past. This one worked great. Lutron's sales pitch for this model is how well they control LED's and they are right. I have it supporting 8x 60W replacement LED bulbs in my kitchen. The one star I've given I hope applies only to the Used models in the reviews.I've requested a return for the Used set and am spending the extra $10 to get New dimmers. I'll not make that mistake again purchasing used product from Amazon. I'll post a more positive review if I receive 3 working dimmer switches in a couple of days. 1It's not perfect, but good enough. I initially bought a cheap $13 GE dimmer at Walmart that said it worked with LED bulbs, but the lights would not always turn on with the switch unless the dimmer was set to full brightness. It also caused a significant hum/buzz from the bulbs when dimmed below 50% or so. I am using 4 of the the 60-watt equivalent "Great Value" brand dimmable daylight LED bulbs from WalMart, which appear to be made by TCP.This dimmer is much better, but not perfect.It does reliably turn the lights on every time, even when set to the lowest dimming level. It has an adjustment for how low the lowest setting goes, which you set to match your bulbs and it works very well. This dimmer is able to dim my bulbs to a very low level while still reliably switching them on, much lower than the previous dimmer I tried. My bulbs ended up being happy right in the middle of the adjustment range provided for the minimum dimming level.At low brightness, my bulbs still hum/buzz a little, but not nearly as much as before. It's not enough to bother me, you can only notice it when the room is really really quiet.The way the switch snaps into position between off and on doesn't scream high quality - it has a very pronounced click and that part of it just feels kind of cheap to me.If I were to buy another dimmer switch today, I might try a different model in my search of perfection. But this one is good enough that I'm not going to return it. I spent hours reading reviews before deciding to give this one a try, and I never found one model that everyone agreed was flawless. I think a lot of it comes down to the bulbs you are using it with and your preferences. 4Attractive dimmers Installed two of these for some can lights that we were installing in the kitchen. We used LED's in all of them. These dimmers work great, adjusting the light over a wide range. They also look good next to Decora wall switches. The color (white) is the same shade. Easy to install. 5Do Not Purchase Multi-Packs of this Item from Amazon, You May Eat the Cost of Lutron's Poor QA One of the three dimmers was dead out of the box. I installed it and it did not function. A multimeter confirmed no continuity with the switch in the "on" position. The second and third switches in the three pack work.The Lutron Diva is a very good tunable dimmer overall. I would rate the product itself four stars. The switch mates well with other Diva-series paddle switches visually, and the dimmer works smoothly and can be tuned from the front, with the switch screwed into the box. The tuning range is very good and I have yet to find a dimmable bulb it does not work well with. My only qualms are that it is fairly bulky (it extends 1.5" back from the faceplate across the entire width and height of the switch) and includes and additional wire for a three-way setup, which I find to cumbersome for typical two-way switch installations. With three of these in a 3-gang box, it's a very tight fit, and the presence of the extra wire which must be nutted off independently exacerbates the issue. I would prefer it if Lutron sold separate two and three way versions of the product. I have never had an issue with a Diva that worked out of the box, they seem to hold up very well.I have two issues with this buying experience, one with Amazon and one with Lutron. The fact that Lutron is shipping switches that fail a basic continuity test indicates a very low quality assurance standard, perhaps just a visual inspection. I find this to be incongruent with the cost of this product. If you were getting bad switches every now and again in from a bargain-basement model I'd live with it, but though Chinese-made, this is nonetheless one of the nicer and pricier residential switches on the market, you'd really expect it to bat batter than 0.667 for the price. My second qualm is with Amazon. Once I found the bad switch, my choice was to return the whole multipack and blow my deadline for having this installation done, or suck it up and eat the cost of the bad switch. I was forced to do the latter. Amazon offers no way to remedy one bad item in a multipack, and the packages the switches come in are clearly marked as coming from a multipack, so you cannot try to return it as a single. I will try to follow up with Lutron and will update this review if that works. But given that this switch apparently gets no meaningful QA from Lutron, and Amazon offers no way to return one of the three, I am giving this item a negative rating and would strongly advise any potential buyers to either buy these one at a time, or buy the 3-pack locally from a retailer that will allow the return or exchange of the switches individually. 2Works well with LED lights, but feels cheap. Functionally, this switch works as advertised. I bought two and wired them both up without any issues.Pros:~ works perfectly with LED retrofit lights (Commercial Electric T60 & gimbal versions). I wired four recessed LED fixtures in series after this switch and they all come on together and dim in unison, so bravo there.~ no buzz, flicker, or odd dimming once properly adjusted. On the bare face of the switch, in the lower left corner there is a tiny little switch which allows you to adjust the MINIMUM dimming level. It is well outlined in the included directions, but basically you set the lowest dimming level for the LEDs that allows them to all turn on together consistently.~ Three way compatible.~ EXCELLENT instructions. I really mean EXCELLENT. There are very clear diagrams and drawings that any person could understand. You don't need to be an experienced electrician if you can just take the time to read and follow the diagrams.~ Comes with wire nuts for all the connections you might need to make. That seems like a small thing, however if you are only using these as standard switches (not three way) you need to protect one connection from the switch that isn't used and since its a smaller wire gauge, its really nice they included a small wire nut JUST for that task. Its a small consideration that is really convenient.Cons:~ The switch is pretty deep. Be aware given the added electronics and wiring that allow this switch to work well with LEDs, you will want a deeper gang box. Otherwise, you will really struggle to fit this in the box. Its about as deep as an older GFCI, so plan accordingly. Shallow remodel boxes need not apply...~ My main, and only complaint, is that the feeling of the switch action itself is quite... off putting. The action feels "plasticy" and clicks with an sloppy cracking noise. It is hard to describe in words, but when you touch and use the switch, it's inherently apparent what I am describing. I have rewired my entire house now, many of the switches I used were the bargin 15A switches sold at HD and they feel much more solid and confident; they move with a solid, confident snap into position. To me, this is a major knock against this dimmer and so I deducted two stars. I find this feeling is actually a major deterrent and if I were to purchase another switch with LED compatible dimmer functionality, I would look to another brand on the basis of feeling alone. HOWEVER, most people probably wouldn't even notice this, and given the other reviews, only a couple people even mentioned it.So in summary, the switch FUNCTIONS flawlessly, includes some of the best instructions I have seen with any electronics, includes minor touches like wire nuts, but you get those positives at the expense of a quality FEELING switch. Every time I touch this switch I notice how cheap the action feels and it nags at me that a switch costing $40 seems cheaper than a $1 generic switch. If you want to feel confident before buying, head to your local big box store and actually touch one of these switches and its competitors before you buy so you can see for yourself if you find the feeling to be cheap.UPDATE 05/13/2015:I recently switched the halogen bulbs in my kitchen fixture to these Triangle LED replacements: http://amzn.com/B00LGZCVSWThe high level is perfect, and the dimming action works just fine, but the bulbs flicker at the lower dimming level. In fact at about anything under half power, they seem to flicker. I purchased this alternative LED compatible switch and will be installing it as soon as it arrives: http://amzn.com/B008X3CHM0.Look for an update soon.UPDATE 05/22/2015:I received the new Lutron Maestro switch and tested it out last night. I do prefer a large toggle switch of the DIVA to a momentary button on the Maestro, but the Maestro switch functions much better with respect to LED performance when dimming, especially in eliminating flicker. So it would seem not LEDs are created equal, nor are the switches that control them. With my retrofit LED can lights, the DIVA performed perfectly. With my GU10 LED bulbs the DIVA struggled, but the Maestro worked perfectly, so my suspicion is you will have to try both switches and see how they perform with your specific LEDs. 3
