    Does what it's suppose to do within reasonDoes what it's suppose to do. Makes nicks and small scratches less noticeable. It doesn't work magic. I don't think there's a product on this planet that would cover up a regular scratch so well that it would be unnoticeable to someone who knew where it was. But anyway, as for this particular product. It has a felt tipped magic marker style, but it seems that it might actually be wood stain in it. Which I know other products have reviews stating the product is just a brown magic marker. I really don't think this is like that. As for the color, I got "black brown wood" which I was worried would be too dark. It's not. It's a very dark brown, but clearly brown none-the-less. I have a very dark brown coffee table. Like dark chocolate maybe? If you have a real and true fully black piece of furniture, I'd probably get a different color unless the nick is in a less noticeable area. It will take multiple coats for this to pass for pitch black, but probably possible. All in all, I'm happy with it.5Works very well, just keep your expectations in checkI purchased a pen and pencil to help fill in some wear with my dark wood floors. The pen is very easy to use, generally gives me the right color and can be applied in a variety of ways. It is recommended that you use the pen for surface scratches, nothing deeper or wider (better to use the pencil). This is because the pen cannot reach anything deeper and you'll be left with gaps in coverage. But, I should note that when it dries, even after I wipe any excess amounts, you can still see that this is filling in a scratch on the hardwood floor. This is because it will not match the direction or cut of the wood unless the scratch is perfectly aligned with the grain. So while it leaves you with something that is more closely colored to the floor, it is still noticeable to you when you look at it. Just something to help manage your expectations.4Amazing !! I purchased this because we unknowingly purchased floors that are very easily scratched . I was getting worried that we may have to replace them. I thought I might as well order this stain stick and give it a try and I am so happy that I did ! This is amazing ! My floors are espresso ( dark brown almost black) and the scratches are very noticeable . One swipe of this pen and a wipe of the paper towel and they are no longer an eyesore . In the right lighting you can still see the scratch ,since this does not change the finish of the floor and I didn't do any sanding , but there is no longer a color difference . I highly recommend this product and will definitely order more when this runs out !! 5Saved my dining room table! Worked very well on veneer walnut table with thin short and long areas where veneer had come off the surface. The marker is very dark and looks like the dark grain. Because the tip is wide, for me, the best method was to apply to area and wipe the stain out to a larger area (across grain) with tissue as soon as possible. Some of the surrounding veneer picked up the stain as well and you could not notice where the stain was applied after it dried. Try with the grain as well as it may work better on some longer scratches. For me, the quick and harder I wiped the lighter the effect. Use clean areas of the tissue after a couple of applications. The longer it is left on without wiping, it will dry in the shape of the marker tip and be difficult to be removed. You can also try folding tissue and wetting the tip with the marker and then applying it too the scratch. 5I was not happy. This pen saved the dayRecently I spilled nail polish remover on my black wood coffee table. Most of the table was not damaged but part of the top and a bit of the bottom shelf were damaged -- I had a black table with tan spots on top and a big white blot on the bottom shelf. I was not happy. This pen saved the day. The color is not a perfect match but the difference is not that noticeable unless you know where the stain was or rub your hand over the spot -- since there's no shine with this pen it just looks like you need to dust. I hope that when I next polish the table the polish will make the dullness blend in better. One relatively inexpensive pen saved the day.I started out being very careful how I used the pen -- trying to stay neatly in the gouges and stained parts. After a while I was less careful though I always wiped the excess product away as the instructions indicated. I don't think you have to be overly careful but stop periodically and look at the spot from different angles and in different lighting conditions.This is the easiest home repair I ever did. Next up - fixing the scratches my cat put on my headboard.5Just what I wantedI bought the black brown pen to touch up a coffee table. It's a very dark stain and had become worn on the edges. Oh my gosh! I looks like new. I went back and bought the red brown for other pieces and again - they look like new. And by all means, none of the furniture is even close to being new. The only think I can say is that I would like to see the pens with a broad tip to make it easier to apply to edges and larger areas. The chisel point works well on a flat surface and small areas but on right-angle edges or larger areas its a little tedious. Thank you, Miller, for a great product.5Dead on color for a West Elm pieceI bought this to touch up a dark chocolate wood dining table from West Elm. I had a piece from the top of the table chip and on the verge of breaking off. After gluing it into place you could still see the outline of the pale wood underneath so I used this pen to fill in the gaps. I am extremely picky and have a razor sharp eye when it comes to color, deviation, etc and the color on this pen really was an exact match. You can only tell where there was a mishap because the chip is slightly raised, but not because of the color.5Great staining pen that's definitely a dark Brown/Black!I used this to touch up a pub table & 4 chairs. It's a brown/black set and the pen color was a perfect match. The color is dark and looks black with multiple coats but I'd say it's definitely a brown/black. Just depends on how many coats you apply. For scratches that needed serious touch up, I'd apply one coat then wait a few minutes, rub with a rag then reapply. Sometimes doing this 2 x's more to get it blended. If the color dries too dark rewet the area with the pen and rub it off. Comes off nicely. I was glad the way it covered the mars and scratches. Deep gouges will not disappear but be less visible. Take your time retouching. Let it dry, look at it in different lighting and angles to see if more retouching is needed. I would say this was a successful endeavor especially since I'm a novice furniture toucher-upper (is there's such a word)!5Best stain pen on the marketI am a retired professional restoration specialist, and this is my favorite touch up pen brand. This is not a "touch-up marker"; it is a "stain pen." Go lighter than you think you need for raw wood because you can always go darker if needed. If you start with a shade too dark you can't pull it up lighter. This stain pen will absorb into real wood instead of just putting a marker finish like a Sharpie on top of it like so many other "touchup markers." I highly recommended this brand and suggest you try the assortment of colors they offer.5Great product for IKEA black-brown furnitureMy cat decided to sharpen her claws on the top of our black-brown IKEA Hemnes furniture. This left small indentations in the wood which were very noticeable. Within 5 minutes of receiving the marker, I had all the small indentations covered. The color was perfect. On some of the deeper marks, it took 2-3 applications/wipes. The furniture looks brand new again. Very pleased. Great product for a great value.!5It did exactly what it said it would do.Got this today and wow is my furniture looking better. I had an end table .It had a few marks on it but some of the finish scraped off in a few places. I used this pen and as instructed covered with small,strokes. I let the first coat dry and then reapplied two or three more. The scratches were relatively small and thin but I kept at it and now after three or four applications I m looking and you can t tell where the marks and scratches were. A great price and I m really well satisfied with this product5Furniture looks better than ever!I have many dark brownish blackish furniture from Ikea (Malm dresser, Kullen dresser, Malm bed) After moving to a third floor apartment up the narrow stairs, my furniture got all kinds of ugly scratches. After reading reviews on Amazon on various wood pens, I chose this product. Yes, I am glad I did! You just uncap the pen, paint over the scratch, let it dry, and you're done!
