Customer Reviews

Great pan!Absolutely in love with the these pans. Perfect Center piece since no one wanted to cut into the cake lolEventually they did and the cake was super moist!5Don't try to put filling in these! I made 2 of these, one yellow cake and the other chocolate. They came out of the pan perfectly, but I had issues with the bottom piece collapsing once I tried to put filling in the bottom. It probably would have stayed intact with nothing but frosting, but I'm not sure. I was pretty disappointed it flattened but I tossed the bottom part out and was still able to use the top face part. 3Not for beginners, reduce oven temp I consider myself a somewhat seasoned baker, so I was pretty disappointed that my first bake in this pan turned out terrible (I had to throw the whole thing away - however, no one to blame but myself). One thing that needs to be taken into consideration is that this is a dark metal pan and I forgot to make changes to my recipe to account for that; If you are using this pan, make sure to decrease your oven temperature by 25 degrees. On my second try, I wrapped the outer/under side of the pan with aluminum foil, to help with the overheating I experienced on my first bake attempt. Seriously. I legit burned my cake on the edges and top, and had a wetish, cakey center - something that hasnt happened to me since I was a teenager. Also, on my second bake, I filled the pan to juuuuust about 1/2 inch to the top. I didnt have much problems with the cake overflowing, which is actually better than under-filling, because the two sides will need to line up to get that great, 3D look.Additionally, with these really intricate pans, I dont like to leave anything to chance and have started using a "cake release" product that I just paint on with my silicon kitchen brush. I had no issues with my cake sticking one either my first (failed) bake or my second (successful) bake.Basically...making this cake was hard. I'm sure I made it harder on myself, but this was not an easy bake and I probably will give this pan away (I cant see myself using it again the future, knowing how much work it takes to make it look presentable). That said, I finished the cake with black, royal icing (flood consistency) that I poured over the top and let drip down. Then, after waiting for the icing to dry about 15 minutes, coated the cake in an edible, iridescent black glitter. I did not need toothpicks to hold the two sides together - you just need to slice of the dome to get two flat edges and use a super sticky frosting for the middle "glue."4Sturdy cake panMade a zombie cake for my nephew last year and he absolutely loved it! I like how I could make a cake and coat with powdered sugar for a simple cake or fully decorate with icing and gruesome items for the eyeballs. I was able to put icing between the pieces to hold the head together to make it 3-D and it stood up on the 9"x13" cake just fine without bamboo sticks. Easy to clean too.5Nordic Ware - above average quality Nordic Ware continues to provide above average products for your cooking and baking needs. At a time when manufacturers are skimping on material and manufacturing mediocrity, Nordic Ware goes in the opposite direction - when you say "you get what you pay for " - in the case of this and other Nordic Ware products it's a compliment to them and a happy experience for the customer. 5AWESOME!! Plenty of cooking spray indeed. It takes a box of cake mix per side. Pretty close to life size. We've also used it for meatloaf with excellent results. 10/105Awesome buy! This was a great buy! I have a friend that LOVES skulls! So I made her a birthday cake with this mold! I had gone to stores, and could only find the face mold, but this was so great! My friend LOVED the cake!It was a great addition to my baking pantry, and was an awesome price!5Perfect for Halloween birthdayMy son has a birthday around Halloween, so I knew I could get years of use out of this. I made a practice skull with both sides and a sheet cake using only the front side as decoration. Both came out beautifully. The pan bakes very well. I had no problem adhering the two sides or crumb coating it. I used a strip of acetate to coat all the curves.5It makes EPIC cakesGot it to make a birthday cake for my partner. It turned out awesome. If you want a great recipe for chocolate skull, I found one at the website Food is a Four Letter Word.5Love itThis cake pan is awesome!5Really cool pan!Pretty awesome baking pan with infinite uses other than Halloween. I had problems getting it to stand up and stick both pieces together. I'd recommend buying skewers. I tried tooth picks and it was a disaster. Also make sure you read the instructions, I filled the pan a little too high and it overflowed into the oven (I'm not a baker - I was winging it). I bought the disguise glasses and noses and broke the noses off and then covered it with icing. You can do like CSI and recreate the skull into a face for even more uses.5Day of the Dead got this for Halloween but have used it mostly for Day of the Dead skulls for my Church's bazaar. Only gave it 4 stars because all the ridges are hard to get icing on. 4Very coolThis thing is pretty cool. I looked up how to use it on youtube and it say's you only need to fill it up half way because the cake will rise. On this one you really don't have to do that. I made it that way and the skull came out to small and wouldn't stick together. I would fill it pretty close to the top (not all the way).5
