Horrible smell and gives a chemical taste to your waterAbsolutely horrible chemical smell of the trays. If you freeze water in there, i use filtered, and if you put it in a glass of water, the taste is absolutely disgusting, like plastic and chemicals. I've washed it and aired it for months now, hoping this would go away, but no result. This really is a health hazard. I've bought a set of trays previously on Amazon, but from a different seller at a time, we moved and left those behind. I'm so disappointed with this purchase :( 1Huge space saver!i bought these to replace the traditional plastic ice cube trays and I am really happy with my purchase. My plastic trays had 16 ice cube slots, and these have 15, but the ice cubes are chunkier, so I use less ice in my drinks. additionally, they fit super snug in the freezer (unlike the plastic ones) so they're a huge space saver.getting the ice out is slightly more challenging, but if you hit the tray on the counter and then just try to turn it inside out, the ice comes out. the silicone doesn't break like the plastic ice molds. 5I am very happy with these traysI am very happy with these trays. The ice is easy to retrieve and slide easily out of the tray when it is time to make a drink. The trays hold their shape extremely well, much better than a hard plastic tray that gets warped from all the bending they undergo when trying to free the ice. Price is good, Prime shipping is great, as always. Buy these and don't look back. 5I received this product in perfect condition. I'm super excited to use them for ...I received this product in perfect condition. I'm super excited to use them for dessert purposes. I haven't used them yet, but will update my review as soon as I do.**UPDATE**This is horrible, I wish I would have read the other reviews before buying it, but I washed them 7 times before use and when I used them to freeze some ice cubes, as soon as I put the cube in my water it had those gross floaties .. I don't know what it is, but totally a substance that comes off of the silicon ice cube tray. I'm so disappointed and will send this product back for a refund. 1fine but the cubes taste like chemicalsThese ice cube trays work fine. They are a good adequate size for beverages. The cubes come out very dense and in nearly a perfect cube-shape. Getting the frozen cubes out is very easy -- since these are silicone trays, you can basically push each cube up and out of the tray from the bottom. My one gripe is that the ice cubes taste like a weird plastic chemical. I'm really sensitive to such tastes, but my girlfriend disagrees about the taste. 4If you like translucent -plastic-looking flecks in your beverage, these trays are for you!The trays were coated in a flour like substance that evidently wasn't flour. I assume this additive is to prevent sticking between the trays. However, I washed them by hand twice AND put them through the dishwasher on at least 5 occasions and without fail, small flecks of plastic-film-looking material appeared in each glass of water/tea, etc. that I poured. Each ice cube is coated in these flecks and the flecks NEVER dissolve, they remain intact. If you pick up a fleck and rub it between your fingers, it will squish up and appear to be absorbed into your skin like an oil. Very suspect. See image. To add, I'm sure it's not a problem with my water. We have an R/O system with single digit TDS readings in our water. Other trays do not have this issue. 1Nice cubes but not user friendly...Initially I thought this would be a good upgrade from my plastic trays. I use a lot of ice for workouts to keep hydrated and the cubes are just the right size. However, they should've included suggestions on how to get those cubes out of the tray. Jeez, what a pain. Unlike the traditional hard plastic trays, you can't just twist these silicone trays and watch the cubes pop out. You can twist these things all day and nothing will happen. It took me about 5 minutes to empty the trays cube by cube and I actually worked up a sweat. The next time I tried a new technique, which took me under a minute. Invert the tray and grab both ends of the tray. Now bend in the middle and use your thumbs to pop out the cubes one row at a time. It still takes some effort but I would not recommend these for elderly people or people with arthritis. 3My second best favorite of these types of traysThese work well for me. Not my favorite kind, but close. Getting ice cubes out of any of these is a learning experience. It requires bending the whole tray and twisting a bit while simulataneously pushing at the cube you want to remove from the bottom. Rarely will the cube pop out all the way. Forget getting all the cubes out at once. Not for anyone squeamish about using their fingers to pry the cube completely out. The cubes in the outside corners are always the hardest to remove with these types of trays, and best left for last. Ease in getting the cubes out of the corners is the thing that dropped this variety to second place for me. The other thing with silicone trays is they have to be absolutely clean when you fill them or it can be nearly impossible to get the cubes out. No slight film from the dishwasher, no fingerprints from prying out cubes. In general, silicone trays are a lot more hassle to use than plastic or metal ones.Nevertheless, I've been using silicone trays for years and like them best. I got tired of constantly replacing plastic trays. I've had my first set of silicone trays for years of constant use, and only now have they developed a couple of small splits at the top of the wall. I like the bigger square cubes. Note that with this brand the cubes aren't completely square-shaped if you fill the cups to the brim. I also kind of find them fun, with their quirkiness in letting go of their contents and standard for cleanliness. My appreciation for that quirkiness took a while to develop. 4Really difficult to get the cubes outI bought this thinking it would be better then the plastic trays you twist to get the cubes of Fallout but it's very much worse. First there's no Channel for the water to run into another spot so you have to fill every Square individually and the worst part is pushing each individual Ice Cube out and they don't just fall out you actually have to push with your thumbs and pull with your fingers till each individual Cube is almost all the way out. At least it's pretty much indestructible but I'll never use them again. I'm perfectly Able Bodied and it's not as if I break out in a sweat doing it but I bought these thinking the cubes would come up better than the plastic trays only they are far far worse 1Read this before you buy. These molds are a bit hard to use for ice cubes. They might be ok for cake molds but ice does not want to come out very easy at all. It took considerable effort to get ice out of the mold. I had thought it might work out as an ice cube maker but i am re thinking that idea. It might work if you take juice and make cubes of that ? But i have seen it used for things like avacado's where before they go beyond ripe you mash them up then put them in the cubes and freeze them. (Again this might be hard to get out of the mold if its frozen. ) But you would be saving your avocado to use at a later date and the cube size allows you to just use what you need and put the rest back in the freezer. 2
