Customer Reviews

Function as expected. They do what I wanted them to do. I make up my dogs afternoon meal in the morning since I get home late. Makes it easy for my husband to just pull the tops off and feed the dogs. The lids stay on well and everything is easy to wash by hand or in the dishwasher. These would also be good to bring to work for a lunch item. 5DisappointedI love Pyrex but was disappointed with the covers of these bowls. The edges of the top covers started to rip within a few months. I was disappointed with the quality and would probably not purchase these again. 3A Very Good ProductI purchased my first set of these over five years ago, and those look the same as the sets I purchased a couple of months ago. There isn't a scratch on them even though I use metal spoons with them. I love these containers to freeze various soups, and make a point of rinsing them clean as soon as I use them. I've got 33 of them now, and was looking to buy some more but the price has doubled so I think I'll wait for a sale. One note, they have changed the material and design of the lid on the last two sets that I purchased. The lids are much more flexible, they feel more like rubber than a plastic material. No problem so far and, one thing I was worried about due to the change, the older lids and the newer lids fit exactly the same so I don't have to worry about which lids go with which. They put instructions for use on the bottom of the new lids, where it can contact food, but so far I haven't had any trouble with food getting stuck in the raised lettering.I put warm, and even fairly hot, soup in these and put them directly in the freezer. No problem so far with cracking. I don't use them in the microwave, though as long as you move them from the freezer to the refrigerator and let them thaw you could. They are only two fluid cups, not two measuring cups, so I like to fill them nearly to the top. Because of this I use larger microwave safe bowels to heat and serve, that way I don't have to worry about spills while stirring.Simply put I love these containers and from my experience I believe they will last a very long time. 5No More Plastic Food Storage Containers For Me!I had already purchased the 12-piece set of these Pyrex glass food storage containers and loved them so much that I bought the 18-piece set so that I could completely replace my plastic containers, as they stain badly with foods containing tomato based sauces, etc. and get damaged in the microwave. Very clear and detailed instructions are always included with all Pyrex products, and I follow them carefully so as to (hopefully) not have safety issues such as cracking or exploding glass. I am very pleased with these glass containers; I also replaced many of my metal baking pans and use glass bakeware for casseroles, etc.Pyrex 18-Piece Glass Food Storage Set with Lids 5Perfect size for what I needed and good qualityAfter purchasing other Pyrex bowl sizes, I needed some smaller ones. These fit the bill and the price was right. I have opted to store foods in glass containers instead of plastic. I worry about plastic leaching after awhile meaning after years of use and dishwasher cleaning. Also I am tired of constantly buying plastic wrap for storage and then having to throw It away. It is a waste of money and not great for the planet. So I use glass for its convenience and food safety and because the lids - especially Pyrex lids - and while they fit snugly, are also easy to take off without breaking finger nails and wash up easily. I like Pyrex quality and price and how organized my refrigerator looks with all those neatly stored leftovers. 5Great - I love these containersI bought one of those Pyrex sets a few years ago. You know, the one that came with the blue lids and some of the containers were rectangular --large and small-- while others were round (like these). Well, turns out that the ones I used the most were like these. So as the small rectangular lids wore out, I decided to dump that shape in order to get the one I liked best. And these 3 containers are great. The red lids are cheerful and the size is great. They hold leftover chili or veggies, or I use them as butter dishes. They really are great at the price I bought them for: less than $3/apiece. The only thing you should know is that Pyrex isn't Pyrex anymore. Decades ago Corning sold us out and the glass that bears the name isn't the same quality. It's good but you can't take it from freezer to oven anymore. 5Safer for your health than plastic. These are great. There's evidence that you shouldn't store or freeze food in plastic containers. Especially acidic foods (think tomatoes, lemon juice, vinegar...like salad dressing), but probably foods in general. Plastic supposedly leaches plasticizers and pthalates into the food. So, old-fashioned glass is the answer. Of course, you should keep the food level below the plastic lids. I have frozen things in them. Haven't microwaved anything, but the glass is quite substantial and would probably take it well. I have purchased these more than once, and will probably do so again as they disappear into my freezer. 5Glass is great, lids failThese containers are a great size for leftovers. The lids are the problem. They are not heat resistant, and warp easily. Silicone lids would be much better.Sorry I purchased these. 1PerfectAt first I wasn't sure I was going to like these, they seemed to be smaller than what I expected them to be, but after having them and using them for a while, I learned that they are perfect! They are nice for preparing dinners ahead of time so all you have to do is warm them up in the microwave and not have to worry about the toxins, like with a plastic container. 5Lids stretchGreat for storage. I have no problems with the glass. The lids....not so great. Obviously storing leftovers implies re-heating. For most of us that means a microwave. I try to offset the lid just a bit to allow venting without splatter. Almost unavoidably, when the microwave finishes, the cooling air sucks the lid tight and stretches it out so it never lays flat again. Simple answer is to never re-heat with the lid. For those of us who don't want a messy microwave...it would be nice to use the lid. Not a deal breaker but YSK = You Should Know. 3
