HANDIER THAN YOU WOULD THINK !!This is a great skillet. It seemed a bit large when we got it. Ordered the large 15" splatter screen to use with it. We haven't yet used the splatter screen, but my husband has used the skillet several times already to fry eggs. He likes that he can cook 5 or more at a time and still have plenty of room to flip them. He even used it for pancakes and eggs instead of getting out his large electrical griddle. I told him I can see this pan being his "go to" pan. He likes to cook breakfast for everyone. It's a good quality pan. We love it.5Nice, but a little light weight. -Updated18 Months Later:We still use this pan several times a week. The pan has held up really well considering how often it is used and that it is non-stick. The non-stick surface is still in good shape. We are general careful to use non-metal spatulas with the pan, but tongs, spoons and other utensils have been metal. We are reasonably careful to no accidentally scrape with metal.I especially like the shape of the sides. They are great for "flick-n-flip" stirring. The non-stick nature of the pan helps a lot. The 14" size means a 5 egg omelet is no problem. The only issue is that it warped after about 6 months. This has not been a big problem because the stove is gas. If we had an electric stove, the pan would be gone by now.Original Review:For the most part this pan looks durable and attractive.Unfortunately it arrived with 30 or 40 small scratches on the bottom. At first, I thought, well, apparently the anodized surface on the bottom must be easy to scratch. But, last night I used it on our gas stove which often scratches SS pan bottoms. Nothing new showed up. The bottom coating is tough, but I must have gotten a pan that took some harsh abuse before it was packaged. That cost the pan a star. If this had been a gift, I'd be shipping it back.Thankfully, the handle material on the pan I received seems solid and without defect. The aluminum of the pan is thinner than I expected, but it did not warp and it seemed to heat pretty uniformly for such a large pan.At this point the only other significant complaint I have is with the main handle. I have average size hands for a man but find the handle too small diameter. I am afraid that if I pick it up with the weight of food not centered it may rotate in my grip. Having the second handle will help with this I'm sure, but I'd rather have the main grip feel more secure in my hand. The nonstick surface seems ok. Only time will tell how it fares over its life.3Jealous!I bought this for my daughter to feed her growing family and when I held it in my hands I wanted to keep it. It truly is a beautiful well made pan with an impressive surface that comes over the top edge so you never have to scrub that again. The red handles perfectly matched her other cookware and is large enough to cook for a crowd. It's well worth paying a little more for a quality product.5Huge, awesome frypan An awesome fry pan, at least as far as I am concerned. The 14 inch size is great. The other 14 inch I have is stainless and needs two people to lift it. This one is big but not all that heavy. I always read reviews and don't understand the negative reviews of this pan. Mine doesn't slide, hasn't warped, is high enough for what I cook in it and surface has not flaked off. So I don't understand the problems people have had with it. One of Rachel Ray's products, and as usual with all her products, and I have a lot of them, this pan is just excellent as far as I am concerned. 5Wanted to love it, but......Not altogether happy with this purchase. I bought a whole set and then ordered this pan and another piece separate. I have a glass top stove and this 14" pan wobbles around on it terribly. The bottom is warped before I ever even used it. Other pieces in the set have defects in them that I noticed as soon as I unboxed them.1This pan is GIANT and wonderful.I had bought it for omelettes, but it is too big to use the edges for this. However, it was fantastic for a family-sized frittata.I wish it had a lid- but not bad enough to impact my review.5Best Skillet I've Ever Owned!I bought this skillet in the 14" size to replace a 10 year old skillet I had that wasn't nonstick anymore. This one retails for about $100 and I got it on Amazon for about $39, so I was thrilled with the deal and was amazed at the size of it when it arrived. It is a little bigger than the biggest burner on my stovetop, but it still cooks evenly. I've used it almost daily for the last 2 months and I've made a variety of things in it: stir fry, beef stroganoff, scrambled eggs, saut ed meats, grilled cheese, and French toast to name a few. Because it's so large, I can make 3 grilled cheese sandwiches at once and 4 pieces of French toast at once, so it cuts down on cook time for some of the things I make. The pan is excellent quality and the nonstick aspect works wonderfully even without using olive oil or butter. I don't use metal cooking utensils with this, so I've had no issues with nonstick coating coming off as others have mentioned. I also wouldn't store it underneath other pans, which may have contributed to other reviewers having the coating come off. The rubberized handle is easy to grip and I love the bonus handle on the opposite side, which makes it really easy to pour food out of the skillet. Cleaning it is very easy using a non-scratch sponge. I love this skillet and I highly recommend it for all your cooking needs - wish I would've bought it sooner!5Love it, Awesome, greatThis Skillet is amazing, try cooking a pound of bacon in a 12 inch skillet, Just doesn't work, it keeps the bacon flat, and it's so easy to turn it over . The skillet also cleans up so easy, in a snap. the extra handle lets you maneuver it with ease. it's a great addition to anyone's kitchen tools. It's also a great value when purchased at Amazon.5Like Rachel Ray Pans But there are a few issuesThis was my second purchase of RR pans. First purchase was 8 or 9 years ago. And some of those pans are still in great condition, unfortunately the two fry pans, which are the workhorses in my kitchen, had to go as they were no longer non-stick. So I replaced with these two new fry pans. As you can see, the pic from fresh out of the pkging shows the infamous circle mark that others have complained about. Really, would it truly cut into your profit margin to add a piece of paper under the cardboard so this wouldn t happen? The second pic shows the circle still visible after a few uses/washes. It s a month later now, and the circle is finally gone. The pans are non-stick and I m happy with their performance. I hope they hold up as long as the ones in the original set did. One last comment, see last pic, this is how scratched up the pan bottom is after only one month of use. This did not happen on the original set. Are there A, B and C versions of these pan lines?4Much better nonstick durability than pampered Chef. We had this set for 7 or 8 years when the nonstick was finally starting to wear off our most used pan too much. We replaced the pan with a much more expensive pampered chef one. That pampered Chef pan was horrible! Great at first, but after 1 year it was useless (nonstick coating completely worn off) . We've since gone back to this Rachael Ray set, and love it. 5All that you expect in the name & materials; except not well balanced weight on pan and handleI think these are TOO lightweight in the pan or too heavy in the handle. I replaced a cheaper version of her skillet with this set. Whereas the other version wasn't hard anodized and it was scratched on the cooking surface (hence the replacement) it was a heavier pan base. These skillets are lighter in the pan make-up but the handle seems to remain the same weight so these are not well balanced. My oil I used for frying slipped out of the pan and onto my eagerly-awaiting-for-a-bite dog as I was turning my egg. I didn't have my hand on the handle of the skillet which was why it so easily tilted. I had the pan centered on the matching size of the burner so that wasn't the issue. The stove has a tilt to it but the it's towards the wall, not the cooking side. It shouldn't have happened by removing the weight of an egg. Now that I know how lightweight it is, I will cook more cautiously and yes, I still LOVE this brand. Just don't want anyone else to singe their puppy....if you know what I mean.3STOP LOOKING.....BUY THIS NOW! Am a devoted cook and part-time caterer. Look no further. This skillet is the one. It sears meat perfectly golden-brown; akin to a cast-iron skillet and clean up can literally be a rinse under the faucet & a paper towel. I have tried them all and this is the Winner hands down. Perfection! Leave it to RR to bring the goods. Great price too. 5Excellent fry panI have bought a lot of frying pans. They all warped. This one is great size and does not warp. I now have three of them.5
