    Does not fit 1 lb. blockDespite many reviews stating it would work, does not fit on the 1 lb. butter that I bought a case of. We cut the block in half and use it, though, because I love the price of the 1 lb. block but my husband complains that it s too difficult to use. 3Clean & easy!Never even thought about such a kitchen tool even existing (I tend to be a major-tasker tool using home chef) . . . But after visiting with some friends and seeing the butter slice in use - I HAD to have one (even if it IS a solo task utensil!) Hint: Allow butter stick to soften a few minutes so it is not completely hard (but not full soft either.) Place butter in a hard surface with the paper seam facing up, open butter wrap so stick is still sitting on the wrap. Press the slicer firmly down as far as go, then flip slicer and butter with wrap still attached to your butter server and use fingers against the wrap to finish pressing sliced butter all the through the slicer - Clean & easy! 5Great item to save money and control portions...Great item. Use it to slice cold butter that I put in a bowl kept in the fridge. Slices a stick into roughly 18 pats which are just a hair under 1 1/2 Teaspoons each. Great for portion control without the expense of buying individually wrapped butter chips.I've found the best way to slice the butter is take a cold stick from the refrigerator let it sit about 5 minutes unwrap the stick but leave it on the wrapper slice on the wrapper...the slicer will not go all the way through the stick pick the rapper in the cutter up turnover push on the wrapper paper to finish pushing the butter chips thru the wires. 5Uneven spacing of wiresThe pics show a nice evenly spaced wire configuration. The actual product has an uneven space between wires, 9/32 then 7/32, no way to get an even proportion for calorie control. The wires are loose, which adds to the inaccuracy of a slice of butter, and some are even bent. 2Recommend!Based on other reviews I have not washed it in the dishwasher. I have hand washed it quite a few times and it s holding up. I have sliced butter and cheese with it and I absolutely love it. I recommend! 5Good helpNice helper in the kitchen for baking or a fancy dinner presentation of butter on the table. Best to cut the butter when not frozen, but not too warm either. Too warm and the butter just kind of mushes, too cold and the butter is very difficult to cut. Cooler room temperature cuts nice sized butter pats. 5Horrible! If I want slices of an unequal width, I'll cut them myself.I could not believe my eyes. I thought the advantage in using a butter slicer was so pats could be cut equally in width. I measured the spaces between the wires. One is 3/16" wide, and the one next to it, 4/16" and so on. Simply unbelievable! I can cut my own if I want them to be unequal. We can put a man on the moon, but we can't make a butter slicer with cutting wires equally spaced? 1Five StarsGreat device, works as advertised even with butter taken out of the fridge 5Just a litte PAT will make it BETTER / BUTTERI looked for another old fashioned butter slicer once my old one, that I had for several years, unraveled on me. I was able to find it at Amazon (of course) and I ordered two; one for now and one for later.My family really enjoys the fact that I slice the butter into "pats" ahead of time and for me it saves in calories. Each "pat" is exactly 1/2 of a tablespoon (50 calories) so I am able to count my fat intake more successfully for keeping my weight at an attractive and manageable number.Thanks so much, I just wish the price were at least $1.50 cheaper because I was able to find them for that at some other websites. My only hesitation in not ordering some place else is the fact that I TRUST Amazon!BTW, the order arrived in the time frame stated so no complaints here! 4Multi function tool!!!Purchased 2 of these because my old one got thrown away by accident and my daughter wanted one too. Not only do I use this for butter but I sliced brick cheese (at semi room temp).My friends ask how I get each slice if cheese do perfect... This is how. I have even sliced strawberries and hard boiled eggs too!! 5
