Customer Reviews

Problems at first is fine nowMy first review title was: Nice size but not the quality I was looking for for environmental health and higher heat for broiling fish.Nice size.. but can not use for broiling fish in our Breville Mini Smart Oven as I had hoped. Pan buckles, pops and bends at 400 degrees I can get by at 300 degrees. Ideally want to avoid aluminum and also nickle for my health and am not sure about the alloys in this pan either. I am not much of a cook and may be expecting too much.Updating ...I am still using this pan weekly and I've changed my opinion. It only went through an adjustment period as I've not had any further trouble with it I'm still using at 400 degrees but it has not buckled. I cleans up well and looks new. Every time I use it I've thought I need to correct that negative review I did. Happy that I'm enjoying the pan now.3Warps when hotThis pan looked and felt great when I got it, but unless you plan to have it as a decor piece, I don't recommend it. I've only used it twice so far and it's already warped. Not just a little bit warped either; if I set it on my counter, one of the corners is lifted up almost an inch. Stainless steel pans are great, but this one is not. I expected more from a small pan of this price.Update: TeamFar reached out to me and stated that the pan warping when hot and in use is normal, and that it would return to the original shape when it cools. This is, in fact, the case and my pan was back to it's original shape after it had cooled down. This doesn't affect me and what I use the pan for, so this isn't a problem, but it is something to be aware of.4Warpage is normal !!My review is going to be two fold. Discription of the product then explanation of why purchasers writing negative reviews experiance they're disappointment. A little education. My tray does warp when broiling but at temperatures below 400 degrees..it's minimal. As other reviews state, it regains it's shape upon cool-down.It does stain (tarnish) when broiling but some glass-top stove cleaner and a stainless steel scub pad takes almost all of it right out.The tray is a medium to low carbon stainless but resists rust well. Now comes the education part. From all the negative reviews, it's obvious that all the disappointment of this product is based on 3 things.First: Too smallSecond: It stains.Third: It warps. As far as size...measurements are clearly stated in the advertisement. Measure your toaster before you buy. Just common sense. Not all toaster ovens are rhe same size.As far as staining...stainless doesn't mean no staining. It means rust assistant. It will stain/tarnish under certain situations and it will rust based on it's carbon content. As far as warpage...this disappointment is based on a lack of understanding of metallurgy. All steel sheet metal warp if restricted by shaping. The higher the temperature, the greater the degree of warpage.Toaster ovens are nothing more than mini broilers. High heat. So if warpage concerns you..buy aluminum. If you want to learn why, read on. I'll explain the basics of steel metallurgy. As I pointed out, stainless doesn't mean no staining...it means better rust resistance over regular carbon steel.Steel is an ALLOY (mixture of metals) and stainless steel is even more so with the addition of nickel and chromium, the same metals used in chrome plating which gives the steel it's rust resistance. All steel has carbon in it. The higher the carbon content, the tighter the molecular bonding for rigidity but the more subject to oxidation (rust). With Stainless Steel, the higher the nickel and chromium content, the more rust resistance and higher cost of manufacturing. The more nickel content the less carbon needed to maintain rigidity and nickel contains no carbon therefore, is not magnetic. That's why magnets stick to some stainless and not to others. All sheet steel warps due to molecular bonding when subjected to extreme temperature changes. Molecules in steel is more tightly bonded than aluminum or copper. With the shorter distance between molecules in steel, when heat is applied too quickly, the molecules rapidly expand beyond it's shaping limitations therefore, warpage occurs. Aluminum which is also an alloy with no carbon content has more room between molecules to allow more movement for less expansion beyond it's shaping but is a more plyable/weaker metal.Thicker is not better when it comes to sheet metals. The thicker the metal, the more molecules that are trying to expand when subjected to extreme temperature change. You can minimize warpage and "pooping" at lower temperatures by pre-heating the metal before placing food on the sheet but broiling temperatures are just too fast and extreme to allow for proper expansion within the tray's shaping limitations.Check out "Austin reader" review on the Teamfar 2 piece Stainless Steel Baking Sheet/Cookie Sheet product on February 17 2017 to learn more. They explain the rapid expansion/ warpage /pooping occurrence in sheet metal under extreme temperature change perfectly and how to minimize it.Tarnishing in stainless steel is a reaction in the chromium from chemicals or excessive heat. Mostly from excessive heat. That's it. Now that you have the basics, you can know what to expect if you buy this product and why.4Perfect replacement panThis is a great tray and perfect size for most medium-sized toaster ovens (ones that can fit a regular pizza). It is very sturdy and a great replacement for the flimsy ones that come with the ovens. I would highly recommend.5Warped the first time I used itThe TeamFar Stainless Steel Compact Toaster Oven Pan Tray says it's made of stainless steel. It looks sturdy, too. When I received the pan it was in perfect condition. The instructions say to wash the pan before first use, and that's more or less standard for these things. However, the first time I went to use the pan it warped. I was cooking a frozen pizza on the pan. The instructions said to bake the pizza at 450 for 20 minutes. No problem, even I can do that. About 10 minutes into the cooking cycle I heard a "bang" come from the toaster oven. Oh dear, oh my, stresses inside the pan finally gave way and the pan warped. So now I can't use it for everything because it's warped. It's still fine for stuff like pizza, but anything that is juicy will have the juices collect at one side of the pan. I'm still going to keep it and use it but I don't think I'll be getting another pan. If the pan hadn't warped I'd have given the pan 5 stars.2Perfect small pan for use in toaster ovens or regular ovensWhat a perfect little pan! I've now used it for two months, and I'm still delighted with the purchase. It fits easily in my toaster oven, and I also often use it in my regular oven. It's easy to clean, completely non-stick even without a chemical "Teflon" coating. It's as shiny bright today as it was on the first day I got it.5Seems well made and works fine.I'd been looking for a stainless steel toaster over tray for a long time. This one seems well made and is working fine. I haven't had any problems with it warping while hot, as some other people have. It's true that it scratches easily, but I like it so much that I didn't want to deduct a star for that. I bought a second one to have as a spare. These trays are also useful for small items you want to heat up or cook next to other things you have in your regular stove oven.5Warped in 30 seconds on preheatShould have listened to other reviewers. This pan is trash. It was literally in my toaster oven for 30 seconds the first time using and it warped.(it was on preheat lol-didnt even get up to 350) I've read a response from the company in the q&a about this and the company says this is normal lol. This is NOT normal. The stainless pan that came with my oven hasn't ever warped but I wanted something that was flat inside of pan(ridges on mine). This must be poor quality metal. I have attached a pic. Will try and get a refund and buy a quality pan1Beautiful and functionalThis is a fantastic product! These high-gloss, stainless-steel toaster trays are of terrific quality. Unlike the aluminum tray that came with my toaster oven, these are non-toxic.These trays clean easily, even with the most burned-on food. I simply soak them in warm water for a few minutes, and the burned food practically floats right off. I use a plastic scrubber to scrub away what little debris that remains. Also, after many, many uses, the high gloss finish does not deteriorate in any way. These trays fit perfectly in my toaster oven, and they are useful for all kinds of cooking projects, from baked potatoes, to flatbread, to cookies, to biscuits, to warming up pizza, and on and on. They are also quite functional as a cover for the 6x8-inch Pyrex pans I use to bake cakes and casseroles in my toaster oven. I use one of these trays instead of aluminum foil.I love these trays so much that I've purchased three of them. I recommend them without reservation.5Sturdy and durableI bought this pan for a very different use than most people. I bought it for my 2.5 year old to play with her playdoh on, practice pouring, and play with her magnets. It works like a charm and she loves it. It is very thick and sturdy. She can hold it and walk across the room with it with no issues. I love it so much I might buy one for the conventional purpose. It is much nicer than my current pans.5
