Customer Reviews

Excellent Icing Tool One real test of tool is whether a first time novice can use it and get good results. My teen just made two cakes to take to school for a year end club party and while I'm not sure how the cake came out, the icing looked great. She used throw away aluminum pans and then scooped out a tub of icing onto each. Then she used this Wilton angled spatula to smooth it out-- adding decorative writing afterwards. The angled spatula meant a smooth even surface that I guarantee she could not get any other way as the cake surface was below the edge of the pan.I'm also not the best with decorating but getting a smooth or swirly icing result is easy because of the angle. (Doesn't have to be a Wilton but it's nice.) 5Does the job Ordered Friday, received Saturday - oh how I love thee Amazon Prime. Frosted a cake on Saturday - this spatula did what I expected. I've never really advanced to "cake decorating" but this sure makes the job much easier. The 13in is better for taller cakes - like say 2 three inch layers. My cake was a mini so this was a little overkill but still worked better than a knife. 5Recommended by Cooks Illustrated This product seems to be exactly as represented. I haven't used it yet but it appears that it will do the job of icing my husband's birthday cake just fine! 5There's nothing like a great tool... Simple things, like the feel of a well made tool for either your kitchen or your workshop, is worth its weight in, well maybe not gold, but darn close to it. I love to bake, and although my cakes usually taste wonderful, its when I try my hand at frosting that they definitely look homemade. THIS spatula helps me to achieve a much smoother surface. The handle is wide enough for me to hold comfortably (carpel tunnel issues) and since its not wooden, its dishwasher safe. The weight/balance is very nice, the length is perfect for those larger pastries (strudels) that I love to create and as mentioned before, I can really slather on the buttercream to my heart's content with fluid precision. (Yes, I take my baking that seriously.)As a gift for a child just starting to show an interest in baking, why not buy this great spatula and a few more things like an apron, mixing bowl with a handle, rubber spatulas and a set of bamboo spoons?New tools always inspire cooks to greatness-and you get to be their taste tester! 5Works perfect and not flimsy The 13 and 15 inch ones are the two I ordered. I ended up only using both to try them out. Both of them are not flimsy at all! They handled homemade cream cheese icing with ease. Heavy gobs spread with no problem!GREAT quality and value. Definitely worth it!If anyone wants to know, they come on a lightweight cardboard backing with two twist ties holding them on then shipped in an Amazon box. 5Made less mess for me It's not as large as I was looking for,but that was my fault for not reading the description of the item. I have been trying my hand at baking lately and having this tool has been a big help. I will admit I hated trying to put frosting on a layer cake, but this tool is kinda making it fun . I would say one this size and larger are a must for your baking adventures. It also makes keeping frosting from being all over the place. (It does for me.) 59 inch spatula It was an experiment and I wasn't sure if this was something I would "really" use or if it would end up as a nice little gizmo without any real function. I am pleasantly surprised. I do a lot of baking and this size spatula is just perfect for icing cakes. It has enough flexibility in it to get into the crevices created when I bake with a bundt pan. Nice item that I would recommend to Grandma's like me that bake a lot. I am an avid Amazon shopper and find the most helpful items there. Fairly priced to. 5Soooo much better than a knife! This review is from a complete cheap-o who thought a knife was fine. Boy was I wrong. If you make frosted cakes more than 4 times a year, get this knife. It makes the cakes look so much better and I do not put the reason for that with my skill. This knife made my cakes look so much smoother and more professional besides the fact frosting cakes is no longer such a chore.Bottom line: 5 dollars WELL spent! 5Rating not based on its intended use. We make our pizza from scratch and they have a tendency to stick to stones and pizza trays. We needed something to slide under them to break them free and something long with a handle seemed like a good idea. It works for that purpose and a number of years later it s still doing it. I haven t used it for baking very often because silicone mats are much easier but if there s any lip on the pan this is more difficult to use. No complaints but 5-stars just seemed a bit too much for a tool that spends so much time in a drawer. 4Bargus I bought this for my husband who loves to bake and was complaining about not having an offset spatula the last time he tried to ice a cake. He was very happy with the size and wants me to order the smaller 6" one, which I will do shortly. My only complaint is that the blade was not as thick as I had expected but he assured me it is perfect for what he will be using it for. 4
