Customer Reviews

Outstanding heat retention ... These little bottles are fantastic. Just the right size for most cup holders and my coffee is still almost too hot to drink after a 2+ hour ride.A little pricey, yes, but I think worth the difference. Properly taken care of it should be enjoyed for a very long time. 5Nice Product Very sleek container - holds about 500ml (think Poland Springs bottle of water 0.5L). I bought this May 2013 - so I have had it over a year and am pleased with it. Read the instructions that come with the mug - the entire travel mug dismantles which makes for a thorough cleaning. The plastic ring on the bottle where you put your mouth actually lifts out and NEEDS to be cleaned - else you will be drinking mold. I have dropped it a few times - the paint has chipped right where it sits in the cup holder but other than that it has worked well. I am able to keep black coffee hot for 8 hours easy - and with the cream/sugar combo 8 hours later it is very warm (obviously the cream cools the coffee down). This flask is made in Thailand - bought through amazon. If you happen to be in Japan you can purchase the same travel mug but made in Japan. Diameter is around 3~3.5 inches I think -makes it very sleek and fits into a satchel perfectly - even the outer pocket on a filson computer case. The lid screws in and I have never had it leak - obviously don't try and fit a liter of coffee - it holds only 0.5L. Traditional travel mugs have a lid that you can drink from - not in this case. You have to physically remove the lid and then you can drink from the canister quite easily. It is more like a little thermos than it is a travel mug. I have NO problem with this because the cleaning of the lid is what I have hated about the traditional travel mugs and so having to remove the lid is not a big deal for me. Again, sits very snugly in a car - keep in mind if you remove the lid the stuff can slosh around. I ALWAYS hand-wash the lid and the plastic ring/gasket that your lips are on when drinking the contents of the mug. I have never put any kind of brush in the container - just run it through the dishwasher. There have been several times where I have let the coffee sit with cream for 5 or 6 days and everything gets really gross - You have to stick the canister part in the dishwasher to get it clean - maybe even run it through a couple of times. I soak the lid (which comes apart into three pieces) and the gasket (from the canister portion) in dishwashing liquid and hot water for 30 minutes and then clean it. If I can't wait to have it go through the dishwasher I will use paper toweling and put some soap on it and push it into the canister and swish it around. I put cream in my coffee and so it takes a bit more work to clean it than if the coffee were black - but goes really quick (despite my longwinded description) and does come clean. Lately, I have used it for smoothies and works great. Some reviewers have commented on a smell - never noticed it but I do clean the whole contraption every time I use. I also wash with dish washing liquid (Dawn) and rinse VERY WELL to get rid of the soap.Things I dislike -the interior of the canister is a non-stick surface. I wish it were stainless steel. If you are inclined to stick a brush in I suspect the surface would get scuffed and I am not sure I would want to be drinking from it at that point. Again, I NEVER put a bottle brush of any kind to clean the interior. I am going to be buying a Snow Peak Kanpai Bottle (18fl oz.) that is made of stainless steel (more expensive too) and will compare the two products at a later date. 4Good mug you may want for its heat preservation! lovely mug that i would not throw away!Never had such nice mug that can actually keep ice for 8 hours through my train travel! and hot enough that can last around 8 hours for almost the same temperature.I read the instructions about this mug and proved its quality by my own.P.S. I filled out their survey and they mailed my a little gift. That was dope. 5The bottle keeps really hot water hot for so long it is almost annoying because you cant drink it fast enough (almost annoying . My wife uses this bottle for hot water to drink throughout the day and loves it. The bottle keeps really hot water hot for so long it is almost annoying because you cant drink it fast enough (almost annoying because you don't expect it at first). Whatever temp the water is when you put it in, it stays that temp all day. Perfect. 5Perfection for my weird cup requirements. This is the PERFECT to-go coffee cup. It's not crazy big (I do not need a half gallon of coffee!) and the 12 oz fits exactly the same amount of coffee as my regular cup. It stays hot. The top screws off easily to let me sip from the nicely-contoured rim of the opening. I'm an adult. I don't need a sippy-cup. I hate drinking coffee (or anything else for that matter) through any nipples or tops or weird apparatuses on cups. The top comes fully apart for cleaning and doesn't have any inaccessible crevasses or sliding parts or caps. And the insides do not absorb taste or smell. No gross-weird-smelling cup issues. Ever. And maybe best of all, it is slim and fits in any cup holder I've ever tried it in. 5Fan of Zojinushi First purchased one of the smallest thermos at a Japanese market. Expensive but I must say I love the brand. Simple style. I prefer this kind of top that seals and never leaks. I have purchased cheaper ones over the years but always end up tossing them out because they either leak or break. I'd rather bite the bullet and buy a Zojirushi. I have a small one at my desk at work that I have used daily for two years. You have to be careful not to add boiling water because it will be hot 8 hours later! Wonderful product. This 16-ounce was purchased as a gift for a college student and she loves it. 5Thermos, not a travel mug This is designed as a thermos, not a travel mug, so the name is a little misleading. The insulation is incredible, but it is not designed to be sipped from. Believe me, I tried! I'd return it, but I'm absolutely in love with the quality and aesthetic of Zojurishi products. If you want a travel mug buy the flip top version. 4Perfect for commuters I just bought my second one of these thermoses after losing the first one. I had the first one for over two years, used it almost every day, it never failed. My new one is gold - the new colors are beautiful. One little thing - it seems like these new frosted colors are a little more delicate than the regular colors and don't stand up to being rubbed against other metal.I shopped for a long time for the perfect thermos and this is it. In addition to keeping beverages at the right temperature forever, I like the smaller 12oz size and that it does not have a handle. Handles just get in the way and prevent the thermos from fitting into a cup holder or tote bag. Perfect commuter thermos. 5DON'T BUY NONSTICK COATING I bought this mug a year and a half ago and overall had been pleased. I have been using it daily since I got it. I've even bought 4 zojirushi thermoses for friends/family, etc because they've worked so well. Love the style, sleekness, leak-proof-ness and ability to keep drinks hot for 10-12 hours. However, within the last month I've noticed the nonstick coating is staining and now it's growing some deep mildew/moldy gross stuff (see pics). Sadly it's now gotten to the point where I need to throw it out--it's disgusting. I've tried soaking and scrubbing, even went to using a steel wool pad and dug way deep down in there and that kind of worked, but this mold/mildew stuff grew back after maybe 2-3 days. I promise I'm not gross and leaving old drinks in there for weeks either and I only drink black coffee and tea so there shouldn't be any sugar allowing this stuff to grow easily. The outside has held up super well, even with me dropping it a few times. Super bummed I have to throw it out. Yes, a year and a half of use for $25 is pretty good, but without this dumb finish inside it could have lasted longer.I bought my boyfriend the flip top one with the "Sleeksteel finish" inside that just looks like regular stainless steel and that has held up really well, still looks pretty new after two years. So I love the brand, definitely buy it, just not any of the ones with the nonstick coating. (why would you even need a thermos to be nonstick anyway?)--Allie 2Don t buy it!!! I hate this mug!!! I bought it for just two weeks and it starts leaking water!!! I put it in my bag and it ruined everything in it!!! This the second one I bought!! I bought the same one a little while before I bought another. The first one started leaking water I thought that was because I dropped the mug on the group for a few times. But actually that was not the reason! It s just a poor quality mug!!! 1
